I would have thought that we would be very strong in the computers given our early OOC schedule, yet we are third in the computer rankings, including being ranked 5th in one of them. We are also 5th in the CBS Sports Top 120. Just for an example using the CBS ranking, Boise's SOS is ranked ahead (26) of both Alabama (40) and LSU (45). What am I missing here? Boise's schedule consists of Georgia, Toledo, Tulsa, Nevada, Fresno and Colorado State. This is not only a little off, this is absolute insanity. Even if you compare just opponents' records, it's not even close (Boise's opponents are 21-18; LSU's are 26-19). I don't know how anyone in their right mind can release a poll that has that Boise schedule ranked ahead of Oregon, NW St, Miss. St, WVU, KY, Florida and Tenn.

Northwestern does hurt us

There is absolutely no reason to play a fcs team. Playing usl is a big boost for okie state

Northwestern State is a massive anchor dragging our S.O.S. down. The computers HATE, HATE, HATE playing FCS schools. It's better to play the worst FBS school than to play an FCS school. If we would have scheduled Washington State, a shitty BCS school, instead of NWS, the result of the game would have been similar and we would have a top 10 SOS.

That and the fact that Kentucky sucks and Tennessee, Florida and Staight all are disappointments. And voila, a pedestrian strength of schedule thus far.

We get no credit for the victory against Northwestern St.

Just wait till next years schedule, we will be really hurting in the computers then

That doesn't explain why Boise's schedule is rated tougher than LSU's and Alabama's to this point, which is absolutely ridiculous. Any computer program, poll voter or other means of evaluating football performance, if it has any validity at all, can tell that LSU and Alabama have played tougher schedules to this point than Boise has. The ones that can't, have no credibility and no business being involved in the process of selecting the teams to play for the national championship.

Then there is something fundamentally wrong with the computer rankings. It's insane to think that, for a NC contender, playing two 5-5 teams is just as tough as playing a 10-0 team and a 0-10 team. Nobody in the country has beaten an opponent as good as Oregon or Arkansas. It's idiotic to have games with NW State or North Texas be more meaningful in the NC race than games against top 10 opponents.
