Does the BB program carry much weight in monetary value to LSU ?

I have been wondering this as well, I mean its not a question of them being a revenue generator, but for a gymnastics program to at least break even I would call that a 'win' in itself.

That should not be the point. I am sure basketball made plenty money when we packed the arena which we used to do on a regular basis. Just because the money is not rolling in for basketball does not mean we should settle for a shitty program. You have to spend money to make money. The TAF has the money to fund a top notch basketball program. Let's go 1st class.

You guys don't realize what it was like in the 80's when basketball carried other sports the lines to buy any sort of ticket was ridiculous. In fact they took a section away /and or moved the student section. I attended nearly every game I could. Was out of school and didn't have season tickets yet. It was flat out crazy.

Do you want to go back to the 80s and early 90s when basketball was bigger than football? HELL NO! If you feel that way move north of I-40.

Probably better the head basketball coach is not fired midseason and endure more public scorn from the media when in the big picture, the bb program doesn’t garner much dollars. Nevertheless, Johnny Jones will be fired after the season’s end.

See page 12 of the report

There's no specific breakout for baseball, but for the 2015 fiscal year, football accounted for around 62%, men's basketball 6%, and women's basketball 0.3%. I'm sure a large portion of the "non-program specific" column is driven primarily by football.

Thx, i’m guessing the reason LSU wants to hold up changing the BB coach, just not enough money to endure more public reproach after the Miles firing. The Miles firing clearly more justifiable given the stakes involved.

Only way to increase revenue in the 2nd most profitable sport on campus is get rid of the coach. It will only cost 400k per year for 2 years (800k) total.

NO WAY...basketball HAS NEVER been bigger than football at LSU. NEVER has and NEVER will. Granted there were days when the basketball team was very good in Dales greatest days but never bigger.

CBB is by far the second most popular college sport and can be a revenue generator if you are good.

However the money is irrelevant. When you play in an arena that has jerseys that say Pettit, Maravich, and O'Neal hanging from the rafters, this shite is fricking unacceptable.

MBB will probably make more money than Baseball this year. TV money isn't there for baseball.
