obviously 2019 never happens but that 2018 was a good team as well. the oline was terrible but burrow was able to overcome it. if brennen or someone else started would that season be like this season and Ed would have been fired earlier?

I’m always amazed at what a great QB can do for a team and a bad coach. Brett Favre’s success caused havoc at LSU.?

What would it be if he would have inherited a different starting QB than Etling?

He was on track to be fired after 2018 before burrow. Remember around the Heisman ceremony he told burrow "you saved our arse man." Even he knew his con was catching up to him

What would Alabama be without Saban?
We can do dumb hypotheticals all day.

While we wouldn't have had the records we did, Justin McMillin was actually a really good QB. I thought he was crazy going to Tulane, because they had a good QB. Despite getting there when fall camp started, he beat him out early in the season and had 2 good years there.

This isn't far off the mark. LSU had pretty bad QB play during Hallman's purple reign. Chad Loup, Jesse Daigle, Melvin Hill and *gasp* Jaime Howard. None of them were in the same realm of talent as Brett Favre.

He was far from really good. He was serviceable but at his best was not really good.

Im not saying he was but if we're going to consider what LSU under Ed would be wihout Burrow it's only fare to assume what it would have been had Brennan stayed healthy, COVID not happened allowing multiple opt outs last season and he inherited someone other than a legit backup-QB as his starter.

You're right and you win.

Ed should only be judged by removing the good fortune he had

What bad fortune did he have this year or last year?

COVID? Didn't stop Bama from throttling everybody.

This year? Stingley is "hurt" and a couple of other players are hurt. They didn't blow a lead against Auburn, get SMASHED by a bad UCLA team, or get humiliated by a fricking basketball school.

Well for what ever it's worth he was routinely considered the sec coach on the hottest seat and maybe in the entire nation. I doubt alleva would have fired him but a bad 2018 season would have put wheels in motion and made 2019 win or gtfo

You're right. You've already won.

O had nothing but good fortune pre Burrow and post Burrow. Nothing out of his control was unfortunate. He deserves no credit for anything good that happened and all the blame and responsibility for everything bad. He probably killed Kennedy and Lincoln and is the top advisor to Fauci.
