I am glad he is no longer the coach, but what were the positives?

-It is going to cost us more money with buyout and all.
-It disrupts our team.
-Offensive Coordinator really has no time to implement anything new.
-We can't hire a new coach right now anyway.
-Having all this time to do a coach search won't really help because you can't do anything now that you can't do in December. Not like we can hire anyone we want just because we were the 1st school with an opening.
-Recruits now have 2-3 months of confusion as to the future of the program. Lets other schools use that against us in recruiting. Rather a few weeks than a few months.

Why not just let Les ride it out and fire him after the season or were they worried that the team might improve and they couldn't? I am by no means a Les supporter but confused as to the timing and what the positives were.

After the debacle in November, LSU needed to prove they actually had a job opening. They've done that.

We can reach out to potential coaches and get our ducks in a row. We won't get caught with our pants down during the post season chaos after all of the other coaching changes. It definitely gives us that advantage.

It stops the deepening effects of the apathetic malaise that has fallen over the program and fanbase

Tiger Stadium would have been pretty toxic in the coming weeks, it would have been a very bad look. For that alone this was worth it.

You say "it's going to cost US more money".
Are you a big booster? If so, it's costing you less than it would've last November. If not, don't worry about it.

As for advantages, it means we won't have to listen to people bitching about Miles, announcers calling the plays before we snap the ball, etc....
And people might actually stay in their seats and not boo

We can focus solely on a new coach now. If we would have waited till the end of season some of the big names might have gotten extensions or other job offers.

Sending a signal to the fans that the Administration wants to win and is tired of waiting around.

Letting all available coaching prospects know that the position is available.

Allowing current coaches to showcase their talents for other gigs.

Putting the players, including seniors and draft-likely juniors in the best position to win and showcase their talents.

Putting an end to the toxic effect Miles was having on the program and fanbase.

Ending the speculation that would have permeated the team for the remainder of the season.

*Head start on coaching search

*Save the season

*Firing Miles late would ruin the recruiting class. Do want recruits to decommit now or in December 2 months before signing day?

Every single time Herman gets annoyed by something at UH I hope he thinks....I wonder if it's like this at LSU.

I think the biggest reason was to prevent Tiger Stadium from becoming the butt of every joke. It will probably still be a problem to get people to attend but not the same as no attendance with boos.

Why would either want to go to a school that doesn't fulfill its contract obligations and fires its coaches mid-season?

I ventured over to the SEC rant for probably the first or second time ever....found this gem about us trying to get Jimbo or Herman

One positive is that we might actually pass for 200 yds in a game. That would help LF.

It will also help recruiting in the long term.

In my opinion, the powers at LSU felt that things were going to get very ugly after the debacle at Auburn. The team (certainly the offense) appeared to be ready to quit on Miles. The goals for the season had pretty much been eliminated (unless we go on an undefeated run, which is highly unlikely). Miles was going to be fired at year end so they decided to do it early and end the speculation.

I applaud them for the guts to make this move. And I have been pleasantly surprised that for the most part the national sports media has not bashed LSU but basically have said that while unfortunate, it was a move that LSU needed to make.

Hearing Danny Kanell whine like a little bitch on ESPN this morning. He almost actually stomped his foot.

Not that this has anything to do with LSU, I just dislike that homo.

You can't possibly think a person who has not been an OC this century will have the time to put in and practice new plays? He can't just throw out the old and put in the new. That's what an offseason is for.
