I actually thought Nuss and JD5 were comparable but after seeing Nuss come during garbage time I realized how huge a drop off there is between the two. That’s less of a slam on Nuss than a better realization of the unique combination of talent and demeanor that is JD5

I really thought Nuss was going to be good, after the SEC championship showing, but he looked pretty bad when in this year, and I would have never thought that… Props to sticking with Jaden, and his improvement in passing this year.

We need to bring in a portal QB for competition at the very least. There’s gonna be a lot of good ones in there.

Remember when everyone thought JD sucked after the FSU game? That was after a pretty big sample size of seeing him all last year too.

Meaning, already thinking you know Nuss's ceiling from a few plays when he's thrown into a game out of nowhere is just as irrational.

So you are suprised that the back up QB isnt as good as arguably the best QB in LSU history? Reality check time in that Nuss first year will probably more like Burrow first year and Daniels first year. Players get better by playing and making adjustments. Also, wrong board!

Nuss has all the tools. He just needs experience that comes from reps. Burrow and Daniels were frustrating to watch their first years and the jump to their 2nd year was amazing. This is where I hope sloan stays on staff and develops Nuss next. If we can’t get Nuss developed, we will be on the fast track to QBU. What QB wouldn’t want to play behind a Kelly built Oline with the athletes Louisiana produces at RB and WR?

Not getting reps with the starters and playing time means it's hard to judge how good a QB is.

Hopefully the coaches know and approach the portal QB market correctly.

Can't tell how good a QB is playing in short spurts. Need to practice with 1s and play full games to get any kind of clue as to how good Nuss is. Think we'll have a decent idea 4-5 games in next season.

JD5 made a huge improvement between his two years. I expect we’ll see a comparable jump with Nuss with a full offseason to work with Denbrock & Sloan as “the” guy. Will he be JD5, probably not, but I think we’ll see a big improvement

Let Sloan and denbrock work with him like they did Daniels and he gets all the first team reps I believe nuss will be special. Maybe not like Daniels but more than capable of leading another good/great offense

Howard left because the coaches made it clear that he would be behind Nuss, so there is a data point. Next season we will have Nuss, second year Ricky Collins and freshman Hurley. They need an experienced portal QB unless they know two things: that Nuss is the man and that Collins is progressing nicely and will be a suitable backup.

I don't think it's fair to say everyone thought JD sucked after FSU. Some may have.
