I think he's referencing us actually playing 11 players on defense the past few games.

Like most offenses he probably didn't realize welter was actually out there and we've been playing with 11 the whole time

Chavis experimented standing Bower up a few weeks ago then he transferred that scheme to Rasco. He moved him all over the place against UF and KY.

We were running three man fronts, Hunter was playing standing up, and would sometimes drop into coverage to bring other blitzes

Sports today ran some numbers a little bit ago that are interesting for sure. They say ole miss averages ~6 qbs runs vs scrubs. They double that vs their best competition this year.

Yea basically, but what i was saying is that it should be our base defense, and people though that was a dumb idea.

Because it is a dumb idea

Isn't that the Mustang package? That LSU runs ALL the time?

Yes but vs. UK we used a 3 DE front.

Quote below is freeze yesterday @ sec teleconference quote:I think they've changed defensively some, which is interesting to me because that typically hadn't been something that they've had to do," Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said Wednesday on the SEC teleconference. "And it's been very successful for them the last couple of weeks." Everyone knows beckwith and Adams are playing now, but that's not what he means. I'm convinced he is talking about a schematic change. Are we calling different defenses with the new players in the game? What am I missing?

lsu isn't going with a base defense and depending on a front four to stop the run. we are manning up and loading the box. We are standing linemen up, playing some zone blitz schemes. all in all, what he is saying is we used to stay in the same defense and let the talent take over. however, since we don't have the talent as in years past, we are loading the box.

Good one Guru...and Lakeboy I saw a blitz as well, but I was definitely drunk.

Adams blitzed multiple times and had the one sack.

Welter isn't there to line anybody up, so it looks alot different but it is the same defense. Everybody is out of position. Ingenious scheme by Miles and Chavis.

It's like Drunken style martial arts.

Miles is in eerbody's heads.

I think he's talking about the 2 DE's and #4.

Not to jump on the Anti Welter wagon, but who çares if he is always in position if he can never shed a block or make a tackle. I am sure he is a great kid, but having Beckwith in there popping people makes a huge difference. Adams is a beast that will start to scare people. That is the only real difference I have noticed.

grad 95 I am starting to believe there is not any real LSU fans in Baton Rouge y'all are the most negative people in the world I would have thought that y'all would be more interested in the helpIng of your team instead of tearing it down ! remember perception usually becomes reality !

He's just trying to plant the seed that they have the 'inside dope' on LSU's scheme while undermining the same - hence the "typically hadn't been something they've had to do" not-so-subtle dig.

Hopefully, after LSU deflates the Ole Piss dream bag, Les will shake hands with Freeze and say, "Was that typical enough for you?"

You must not be talking about me….

I said the one of the biggest differences in our defense over the last 2 weeks was tackling….and I was serious. Our defense tackled much better the last two weeks. I am not sure how that is "negative" or "tearing the team down"
