There were even fancy Twitter videos. I assumed we were out in front of this thing and making our mark. I didn’t really pay attention honestly. I heard our kicker had a deal with macaroni and cheese so it had to be going good with that stuff. The fricking kicker.

What’s the real deal here? Kids are leaving because if it, so obviously we aren’t doing something.

It's very simple.

LSU is/was allowing organic marketing to occur. If a local company wants to land an advertisement with a player, then it happens.

Stingley got one, Brian thomas jr, the kicker, maybe a few others.

None of these were really big money deals. Just local companies for the most part wanting to make a cheap splash.

**Important to note.** Other colleges are using this as pay for play, and why not?

basically, TAF should have a NIL budget of multiple millions per year, maybe even pushing 8 figures.

You take this budget and pay off stud players to not transfer, go to draft, etc.

You also take this budget and go land 5 stars.

Anything else is falling behind the times, period.

Dumbass it’s actually the opposite. LSU is debatably doing it better than any other school in the country right now especially partnering with local business’s.

Myles Brennan got a $100k+ truck to not play.

Pretty good deal if you ask me.

So many fans didn't understand this before it happened no matter how often it was explained.

There was never a huge market for NIL. And, now you have a "legal" way of paying a kid to play combined with his ability to freely transfer.

It's pay to play.

LSU was out in front as far as comprehending the rules and pushing that info out.

LSU is massively behind in NIL deals for our players from local businesses.

The biggest misconception is that other teams are getting everyone huge deals

shite, these fans can’t even track LSU player’s NIL deals. How are they tracking other teams to compare

It’s inferiority complex day on TD today. First it was the head coach who was hired less than a week ago isn’t doing enough flashy stuff and now we have moved on to muh NIL

I will say that the new Texas OL deal will be a game changer. Sports Illustrated Story

And also, not every NIL needs to be a press release from the school. I’m sure plenty is happening and will be showcased after the season.

Orgeron knew this, and spoke up about it in his preseason Rotary Club speech. He just lacked the ability to do anything about it.

You may wanna read up on what the Sips are doing. Reportedly 100k per scholly player, and an additional 50k for every scholly offensive lineman.

Are people really in favor of this?

Is it simply not legal for a voluntary participation organization to require its participants to be amateurs?

100% correct….NIL and the transfer portal is a bad combination. It will be a bidding war with players bouncing around to get the best deal.

I don’t know that kids are transferring out.

I’ve always wondered how LSU and other small market teams will compete with the larger markets on this NIL landscape

Personally , I think the rule was put in place to destroy the SEC
