What type of "spread" do you want?

I personally like the pro sets they ran at USC. Give me a couple of good TEs, tall lanky and fast WRs, and a scat type back like Guice and a thumper like L. White was. I prefer the multiple sets you can run and a semblance of a power run game where you can control the clock when needed.

I'm not sure Baylors spread would work well in the SEC consistently like it did in the Big 12. Also leaves the D on the field a long time, getting into scoring shoot-outs.

If we did run a spread, I'd rather the power spread that AU or Ohio ST. runs where you have a mobile QB (JT Barrett type) and a power back in a 3 WR set.

I think O will look to more the USC style based on personnel and whoever we bring in, run some elements of the Urban Meyer spread.

Thoughts?

Single back, tight end and maybe jumbos to a side. Just something to create mismatches for Guice

No need for a spread the only spread styles that have won have been Meyer Herman Mullen type spread teams who use the heavier sets and run the ball a lot. Those big 12 offenses won't cut it in this league. There's nothing wrong with a pro offense if you use the spread concepts that most pro offenses have. Look at New England New Orleans for example they're pro teams who use the shotgun very well. I keep saying charlie Weiss for this reason he'll run pro stuff and knows how to spread you out and use space too.

Is that something that a power bottom does?

Power run spread. Similar to Dan Mullens, something that can control the clock but still have the ability to score quickly when needed. Lots of 1 tight end 3 receiver sets and 3 receiver 2 tailback sets.

If we go to the Mullen spread you better be ready to drop Myles Brennan then.I've got to watch him up close twice this year and he would last maybe a half of a game playing in that type of system, way too slow. For that look to work you have to have a threat at QB and we don't have that on roster nor committed.

Brennan would be our Tyler Russell(ask State folks about him)in that type of system.

The power spread similar to Clemson, we couldn't stop them in that bowl game a few years back.
