I think it is unrealistic to expect LSU to compete yearly for a National Title.

Please explain.

I think it is unrealistic for any fan base to think their team will play for a NC every year. LSU is as good as any program out there over the last 10-12 years with 2 BCS titles in 3 appearances.

I think every fan should WANT and HOPE for LSU to win a NC every year but to realistically expect them to play one is another thing.

I think we should be firmly in the discussion (holding a top 10 spot) for at least a few weeks in the mid-late season almost every year. I think that's fair given what we bring to the table.

Any program save one.

I agree.

Again I agree. My point is that we are as good as anyone, yet we have only played for 3 titles in the last 11 years. So to expect to play for a title every year, IMO, is unrealistic.

So if our schedule had gone - Wisc, ULM, S Houston, NM State, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, then suddenly Bama MSU Auburn Arkansas, this would have been a "successful season" in your eyes? Because we'd have been in the national title hunt until well into November in that scenario. Maybe even ranked #2. It's just silly.

FWIW, this is basically what Ole Miss did this year, and they won't end up having a notably better season than us.

I don't think you should look at a decade to decide if your program is on the right course. Looking back is easy to see if you have succeeded or not, but it does nothing to indicate future success. I would much rather look at 4 year intervals and determine if the program is on a steep decline and make major changes. If it is on a steady incline or slight decline, make minor tweaks. IMHO.

think Miles is here for another 3 years no matter what. I think this will lead to a decade of mediocrity starting with this yr. Maybe 2 SEC champ appearances in the next 10 yrs if he stays that long. Reason: recruiting is about to take a big hit. Question: If you were a stud WR, QB, or TE, who did not grow up going to LSU games, would you choose LSU under Miles and CamCam? I wouldn't

I don't understand where this stuff comes from. It has no basis in reality. Miles just signed his best recruiting class since he's been here, possibly the best ever. 2016's class seems to be on par with 2014. LSU's future looks bright. This season is over, it was rough but we all got through it. Everyone knew going in that it was a rebuilding year, now everybody is surprised that the team finished 8 and 4. Guess what that's a winning season. Cam cleaned house with the QB's. I hope he has a plan in place to add an extra QB aside from the one that's committed

For $4.2M (head coach...7th highest paid) and $1M+ (each coordinator) and millions in facility upgrades..... What do you think the proper expectations should be?

Nobody remembers 10 win seasons.. thats just a feel good.. the real achievement is in winning trophies...

Good because before Miles got here we had 2 10 win seasons in over 20 + years.

You are also playing 12 games A year plus a bowl game. Much easier to get to 10 wins... That is a slanted stat........

10 wins is just 10 wins... Trophies are much nicer....

Right but lets not act like 10 wins is something lsu has done forever and shouldnt be celebrated. Winning 10 games while playing in the sec west is a good accomplishment and any one that thinks otherwise doesnt understand how hard it is to win in the sec west.

Before A & M got in the sec, The west wasn't that good as it is this year. Arkie decent, Bama and AU always pretty good, the Miss schools always shitty...
