For Miles to have this level of winning during this era of SEC football, especially when you consider that LSU's permanent East opponent has been the East's top program, is spectacular and unprecedented in LSU history. LSU has played the national champion every year since 2006, except 2007 when they won it themselves. And of course, in 2007, they beat the defending national champion.
Last year we played UT, Aub, UF, Bama. 6 bcs titles between them.

Probably not, but for decades teams only played 10-11 regular season games. Now teams routinely play 12-14.
Good point but exaggerated. Since 1970 teams played 11 regular season games. Now they play 12. If they play a conference championship they could end up playing 14 total with the bowl, compared to 12 for the three decades preceding 2000.

That is way, way overblown - Saban won 48 games in 5 years - 9.6 wins per year, and lost 16, 3.2 losses per year, for exactly a 75% rate, averaging just under (exactly 1 game over 5 years) 13 games per year. Mac was the coach at the transition (almost always went to a bowl) and averaged just under 11 games per year - if he had, say 12 games per year, at his winning percentage he would have won 11 or 12 more games over 18 seasons.
14 game seasons are an anomaly, although 13 are common now. Over an 10 to 12 year career, it offers a few more opportunities to win, but a few more to lose, as well.
People complain that modern coaches like Saban and Miles get to pad their wins against the Idahoes and Georgia Southerns of the world, which is more true than the extra games. Mac didn't rack up a lot of wins against rent-a-wins, because there wasn't really such a thing (unless you count aTm).
When I argue Mac is right there with Dietzel, Saban and Miles (I have him actually above Dietzel and even with Saban), part of that reason is Mac had to play Bryant every year, and had OOC wins against teams like Miami(FL), TCU, Ga Tech, NC, SC, Notre Dame, Wisconsin (in Madison), Utah, and a metric $hit ton of games against aTm, Rice and Tulane.
Mac's OOC losses were (unlike Saban's UAB and ULM) to teams such as Nebraska (in Lincoln), Notre Dame (in South Bend), USCw, and a bunch of bowl games.
Looking back at the OOC schedule from back then, the only slightly embarassing one was Pacific. Heck, we average 1 to 2 of these every year now (and every other big team does that, too.)

will go with 75%
i can see him coaching 6 more seasons. that puts Coach Miles at 65. it is possible, but i don't see him coaching much longer than that

If he's within striking distance of the 137, he'll go for an additional season. But, I tend to agree. He won't be the kind of guy who coaches until the day he dies.

his ego will force him to go for the record if obtainable.
