They get the field ready for practice with dummies, yard markers, and whatever other equipment there is that is needed based on the practice script for that day. They get the players equipment together for every game practice and game (new shoes, gloves, swag, etc.). They are in charge of all the new gear coming in from Nike that the players wear. THey put the stickers on the helmets (every week..long, long nights). One guy handles the clock for practice, some may chart plays during games if need be. There is a lot that goes into it and it can be long hours but if he can, he should do it.
I did the video staff at a G5 school in college for 3 years and it was an amazing experience. It was also long hours but sitting in on meetings and talking to coaches was an experience I will never forget.
Most of the time, guys that got on the staff, knew someone on the staff already, but they did post the openings online. I can't really speak for how LSU does it, which I know doesn't help but if he can, he should. Just for the gear, travel, and camaraderie of being out there.

I'm no expert, but I would venture a guess that they are expected to manage equipment.

Maybe one would contact the equipment manager at various colleges and schedule a visit. This would demonstrate a pro active attitude and would probably land a position for the person wanting to be equipment manager.

pretty much same expectations as being a cuck

I remember hearing a story about how back in the early 2000's an equipment manager left the backup batteries for the coaches headsets in BR for an away game. Saban was *ahem* not amused.
