Miles should give him a coupled of touches on offense. Would love to see a reverse or bubble screen with him. Chucky Woodson got some offensive touches. I think the whole team would embrace the chance to give him an opportunity against a team like UTenn. or Auburn. Could possibly use him as a decoy against an aggressive Bama defense as well if the previous touches work.

I think a monster gm (int for TD or scoop and score and throw in 1 or 2 tackles for loss) against bama gets him to NYC. But TM7 will finish 2nd at best. But a DB making it to NYC is like any offensive player winning it.

He needs a few heisman moments on tv.

He's HAD them on TV.

-Forced fumbles against Oregon and WVU, 4 total on the season
-2 ints (I think)
-3 forced fumbles off of the all-time NCAA record as a Soph.
-5 tackles for losses, coming in at #2 on the team between Mr. Montgomery and Mr. Mingo.
-Leads the team in total tackles
-Returns punts

Now, breaking a punt return loose for a TD would help, but I would argue that there's little defensively that he hasn't already done on a national stage.

People forget that Mathieu is a sophomore too. Woodson was a junior. If he keeps making play after play this year throughout next year, he'd qualify for the Heisman Lifetime Acheivement Award. Heck, if he stayed for his senior year and had comparable stats for 4 straight years, they might just give him two Heisman's in one year.

The only way a defensive player wins is with HUGE defensive numbers, special teams play, and some packages to work on offense where he is more then just a decoy.

Put in mathieu for the next jump pass and he'll get respect.

I agree...he's already done about all else there is to do to prove he's worthy of the award.

He has been visualizing his stellar game against Bama since before the season started. Tune in to watch those visualizations come to fruition.

Mathieu has no chance of winning the Heisman. He is too much of a showboat and self-promoter.

As much as it pains me to admit it,

Realistically, there's nothing he can do to win the Heisman.

This.

I'll be impressed if he is just in NYC

And this.

The Heisman is a popularity contest. The Honey Badger is not popular, just good.

It would also be helpful for him to add some QB sacks to his resume'.

how sweet would it be if the Mad Hatter gets him in there on offense against Bama for a trick play. It would be brilliant.

I would love it. The Mathieu hype is going to hurt his Heisman chances.

He has to continue to do the same things he's doing now and a couple of punt returns would help as well especially on a big stage like Bama particularly if it wins that game
