I think he had 3 sacks in a game one time but I can’t remember who we played.

The overhyping of Smith and Daniels by this board is astonishing. One has barely played a down and the other gave a full season of reason to doubt his passing ability, and yet he’s the new joe burrow. One domino down before the season even starts. We’ll all get to see if Daniels can hold up to the hype.

He is a 1st round, possibly top 10 pick. He is not overhyped. Let’s hope he can produce for LSU this season before he heads to NFL.

keep hating on him
The facts are he has a chance to have a great season & be in the running for a heisman

I hope for the best out of Smith the remainder of the season but he has a mountain to climb. We have had a lot of overhyped DTs come through LSU who haven’t really been that Glen Dorsey force they were made out to be.

He’s struggled with injuries since FSU last year (knee & ankle) and hasn’t been able to fully participant in defensive team activity to date. It may be a good thing to give him some time to focus on getting into playing form and having a warm up game at home. Would love for him to be out there against FSU but he may be a liability and this suspension could be a blessing in disguise for him and the fans.

TLDR: FSU 22’ was his best game. All two possessions of it. ??

Smith a liability? Lol my goodness what is wrong with some of you people? Two of our best OL can’t block the guy. He’s in the backfield almost every snap.

He’s our best DLman and our coaches have been speaking highly of him the entire offseason. This injury speaks to how hard he works during practice and imo they need to slow him down a little during practice so he can take this out on our opponents. He wouldn’t be a liability even if he didn’t know a thing about football, which isn’t the case.

Yep. Smith had 18 tackles and 4 sacks in 9 games played and people said he had a monster season. Lmao.

It's not just sacks. Go look at the play he got hurt on against FSU. He blew up the whole middle of the line by himself and disrupted the play, causing the RB to have to go off script and eventually be tackled for a loss by someone else. Plays like that add nothing to his stats but the whole reason that play didn't work for FSU was almost solely because of him. But boxscore watchers say "why was he even celebrating he didn't do anything"

I understand what you are saying, and I hope he becomes the player he can be. That was one play and a great one but Mekhi wingo should be getting more praise than Maason. Mekhi is our best DL period, forget potential he showed us and showed up in big time games.
