What is a reasonable expectation for LSU football?

Serious question.

My current expectation(s):
- I have expectations for LSU to win 11-or-more-games (of a possible 15).
-- This is based on the leverage in recruiting, facilities and overall program prowess, in comparison to Moo State, Ole Miss, Auburn and Arkansas, and our continued ownership of TAMU.
-- Bama is Bama, so my expectation is to be competitive with them every year, with maybe a once-every-10-years pounding of us, and for us to go 2 out of 5 against them in each 5-year space.

In a rare year, when things don't go well due to things you cannot control, a 9 or 10 win season is reasonable to expect.

8 is never acceptable. We have far too much leverage for a coaching staff to win only 8 games in a 13 game season.

What should my expectations be?

Honest question.

I want to adjust if it is warranted.

Right now?

I only have two expectations, and they seem to be pretty high at this point.

1. Win our bowl game
2. Beat Alabama next year.

That's how sad I am right now

Not winning 6 games (2 SEC) and giving our coaches a bonus.

Be competitive in the big games. We all understand that a team will not go undefeated every year but be there at the end in hopes that one or two plays will go your way and we get the victory. Getting blown out to any team regardless of their talent is unacceptable by LSU standards.

Right now the way things are you better be happy with 7 and 5 and 8 and 4 sometimes. Dark days are ahead. Year after next I'm looking for LSU to have it's first losing season this century.

For Les I think that he'd better win the West or come damn close to it.

I think a reasonable expectation is at least win the West every couple of years. That means beating Bama occasionally as well.

I'm not the type of fan that thinks of myself and what I want to see, its about the kids that come play for LSU. Right now our Senior class will leave LSU with zero championships and ONE mid-level bowl win. To me, that is not acceptable and it doesn't sit well with me knowing a LSU class will leave with a bunch of what ifs.

Next year?

Sweep the non-conference games, win 6 SEC games, finish 10-2 and play in a New Years bowl.

Let's recap:

MSU - won; MSU missed FG to win game.
AU - LSU dominant blow-out.
Bama - beaten soundly.
Arkansas - beaten soundly.
Ole Miss - blown the frick out.
TAMU - late TD to seal victory.

1 blow-out victory, 2 close wins, and 3 convincing losses.

9-4 is my prediction for next year. I have no expectations, I know what we are. A 9-4 team

Evidently ... it's only to have a nice man as a head coach.

The first thing I want is for the team to compete an represent LSU to the best of there ability. Compete for the west an get to Atlanta. I expect Les to run a clean an respected program.

This was my expectation.

But I also kept hearing this all year:

quote:

Paraphrased: Dude, wait till next year. Les Miles is the man and can get us back to the playoff.

So now I will buy into that hype.

Sec champ and Playoff should be the expectation and that is why miles was brought back. Right?
