What intrigues you about this LSU football team and what’s causing anxiety

Defense both intrigues me because of all the top talent signed and new coach but also causes anxiety because it’s young in key areas like LB. Hard to know how much or how fast LSU’s defense will improve, may take three or four games, hopefully not most of the season.

LSU’s freshmen running backs intrigue me a lot. LSU has signed two top ten running backs. Both appear capable of catching and running the ball and I expect coaches will play both early in games. It’s an area of need on offense, need to know early who’s ready for the SEC.

The defense intrigues me just because we have no idea what it will look like. We know we have good defensive line depth and a great pair of starting corners which is a great foundation to start with. How the other positions and scheme pan out will be interesting to follow.

I'm concerned about the running game and a secondary threat in the receiving game. And of course we're just guessing who the QB is.

A lot of talent and a lot of question marks sums it up on both sides.

I forget that the clemson linebacker will come in and start, so that helps with the linebackers.

Anxiety: oline progress in yr 2 together

Intrigue: def can't be worse, hopefully they play loose and know assignments.

Hope you’re not basing your anxiety on the spring game

That coupled with last season. No SEC-caliber rushing attack, only one receiving threat, mediocre OL, relatively inexperienced QBs, new OC.

Young, energetic, up-and-coming new OC and DC intrigue me. Having a solid #2 WR threat is a cause for concern.

I’m more worried about getting my tailgate legs back under me and at 100% after a year off

The only position I am 100% confident in is PK, Cade York is awesome.

All legit concerns. The offense showed flashes last year but we have to remember how horrible SEC defenses were compared to normal years

Areas of concern
Middle Linebacker (Hoping Strong can be the guy)
OLine consistency in particular at Center and Right Tackle
Strong Safety
Need a couple WR outside of Boutte to emerge (I’m sure they will there’s a lot of talent in that room)

This is assuming Gilbert gets the academics sorted out so he can be on the field in the fall.

No wonder the SEC went 7-2 in bowl games last year. I was wondering how they did it.

Doesn't change the fact that the defenses sucked

The unknown intrigues me.... after last year I want to know where this team can go. Many reasons to be excited many to be concerned... for me the most exciting prospect for me is after 15 years in the military I am going to be a full time student at LSU.. literally a dream come true for this guy!
