What has the staff taught Elbert Robinson besides to lose weight

His foot work isn't really any better since high school and his back to the basket abilities have appeared to have stayed the same.

Not much. For such a top recruit, not much.

He actually looks like he handles the ball a little better and has been making a few solid moves inside. I'm just as frustrated as the next guy with the coaching but I have seen at least some improvement in his game.
The fact is he's just too big to play on a team that pushes tempo. The last several games we've also played guard heavy teams that just don't allow for his style.

Should have let another team sign him to begin with IMO. It was no secret in the recruiting process that he had weight problems.
2014 has turned out to be the 1st of 2 consecutive years where CJJ has failed to recruit for any rim protection. Someone please convince me that this won't happen for 3 years in a row.

Wasn't that one of the reasons JJ hired Pinkins?
He has a pretty good history developing post players.

Well, his offensive ability was certainly improved. I feel confident that he'll be able to make a good shot once he gets the ball in the post. He's following a pretty natural progression.

Do you remember how bad our roster was when we were recruiting him?

I mean Victor should provide some help there. Him not getting the hardship waiver was BS.

Elbert is also a pretty natural passer out of the post too.
I just wonder if a red shirt year wouldn't have been more appropriate for him last year given the body transformation they wanted. Kyle Wiltjer has talked about how great it was for him to work out without the pressure of being in game shape and how that really helped him transform his body and take his game to his next level.

That was the logic behind recruiting someone who was never a fit for what you were trying to do schematically on paper?

Theoretically, does putting all the eggs in the Victor basket to replace 2 years of recruiting at his postion look like sound logic to you?

Looks like the weakest big man I have ever seen.

I don't know if there's much the staff can do other than footwork and agility drill to try to improve his movement, because that's the issue with Elbert plain and simple.
He can't move well enough to do the things a big man needs to do in today'sgame.

Didnt Elbert drop like 80-90 pounds or something, but now he's back up to 290. Why did he put back on most of the weight?

The logic was to get talent at the school. Period. We didn't have the luxury of wanting certain players. We had scholarships to use

Well wouldn't it be 1 year? That was my point. They added Victor in one of those classes
This was your statement:

I was pointing out why it was false...
2013: Martin and Mickey
2014: Robinson and Epps
2014 for 2015: Victor
LSU hasn't been in a great position to attract top talent, but has able to still get some guys. You can't turn a guy like Robinson away.
So yea, we're thin down low, but we went after some guys. Do you think JJ didn't attempt to get another Mickey?
Do you remember the shape Trent left us in and the 2012 class? We needed to add depth, even if the player was a project

ER is just awkward AF and I don't know how they fix that.
He's made some improvements, but he just doesn't seem to have what it takes to be a dominant player. He's a defensive liability.

His weight has almost everything to do with his footwork, he has improved a lot since last year, I imagine by next year he will be key to our success. Everyone knew he was a work in progress, majority of it was losing weight and that could literally take years for him to get his body right.

I've been to practice where Dupre is working with all the bigs on footwork low post moves and passing drills. He's just a lead foot with very little chance to be much better. So not what a JJ coached team would ever need. Head scratcher why we brought him in.

Yes it looks like he's in slow motion
