I mean we all know he does a nice job recruiting for the most part

But even if you hire the best coordinators out there. It will never fully mask or hide the head coach from responsibilities, eventually it will fall back on him.

Not according to his defenders...he has no talent to work with, its not his fault...even though this is his third year here and he has been the recruiting coordinator for two years

Apparently his biggest asset is he's hands off. Seriously. "He doesn't do anything" was sold as his biggest positive. That's our head coach.

If he's hands off during the week, he can't jump in and bark out orders during the game. That leaves us with the clueless powerless ogre with a blank stare that we saw on Saturday. Yaw yaw yaw.

I think the better question is what exactly does Coach O do? With Aranda and Canada you have to believe (and have been led to believe) that it's their units so O kind of takes a back seat. It's almost like he's still a positional coach that just has the head coach title.

Seems like he's there to manage the personalities on the team, recruit, connect with the fans and media, and be the fall guy?

I brought this up time and time again during the coaching search in my arguments with those who wanted Coach O from day 1.

Their logic was "Oh, he'll just get out of the way and the coordinators do their jobs!" Well then wtf do we need him for?

I remember a particular argument I was having regarding O vs Herman. I said it's best to have a coach who has expertise in one side of the ball or the other. IE Saban, Fisher, Herman (at the time), ect, ect.

Why would we want a HC who you wouldn't hire as a coordinator?

I made this counter argument and am somewhat serious

O is getting 4 million for his biggest attribute of doing nothing

I am a CPA and very good with analytics and numbers. Pay me 250k, use 1 million to go get a phenomenal recruiter.

So, we are still 2.75 million ahead, recruiting wont suffer, and at least I am a smart analytical person compared to 0 and I promise not to get in the way either

Because they saw a pic of a playsheet in Miles hand in a game 2 or 3 years ago.

"I scoured the internet and found 4 different pics!!!!" I laughed at that one.

I'm not going to bash O or call for his resignation yet, but I do think he needs to figure it out and start putting the pieces together quickly. The SEC is the most competitive and quickest evolving conference. He has to have a quicker leaning curve, and that goes for Canada as well (which I know falls on head coach)

Everyone keeps using Herman as their example for defending their points the last few days. It was literally both sides of the coin in 2 weeks time. Its what your team does after a big loss, or any loss I guess, that counts to me. I think Herman did a great job of getting his team fired up to go play a better opponent right after a Maryland beat down. I think Miles was good at that part, especially playing in the SEC where one loss could potentially mean season over. Everyone will be looking at O for LSU to go into Florida with one loss and to be pumped the frick up and come out of there with a W. And we won't know until that day.

I hope O finds the magic. He knows the repercussions more than anyone if he can't make this work.
