What do I want in a new coach?

Above all someone who is intelligent. Not someone who was a great player themselves, or someone who everyone loves and definitely don't hire someone just because they have "ties" to LSU and Louisiana.

Being a great player is meaningless as a coach. If they get the job done and eleminate the bonehead plays and schemes, I will love them. I love Louisiana but almost none of our great coaches have come from here. Charlie Mac, Dale Brown, Saban and even Les if you think he has been a great coach have not been Louisiana or LSU guys.

As for being a big, well known name with a proven track record, that isn't necessary either. In fact the best coach we could get is probably some bright, young guy who is hungry and has a lot to prove.

This is what the AD should constantly be looking for so that when it is time to change coaches they already have several possibilities that will actually come here. Has our AD done that? Of course not, he should be fired too.

If he hasn't done that, I agree. The AD should be fired.
