What are you expecting from LSU basketball next year?

For me it's just gel throughout the year with Diaper Dandies on the roster, which takes time sometime even with immense young talent. Look no further than that 13-14 UK team with Randle and the Harrison twins that got in as an 8 seed but gelled and made a run to the national championship. If we qualify for the tournament, we are a nightmare in a single elimination scenario for people with the length and athleticism at every position

Sweet 16 baby! Anything beyond Sweet 16 would exceed expectations for Wade and the cavalry.

Not just make the tournament, but win a couple games in it. I think Wade has to use next season to show he is building something here at LSU. What was the end for Johnny was the raised expectations of having so much talent only not delivering on getting them to the tournament with the #1 overall pick. Wade has to deliver a tournament berth and some noise in it to get this train really moving.
We certainly have a sleeping giant of potential here, it's taken forever to get the right coach to come in and harness the talent we can pull.

Sweet 16/Elite 8
The talent is here in 2018-2019 and Wade actually coaches the players.

Assuming Waters returns (he is the key to everything IMO), then I expect this team to seriously compete for the SEC title and at bare minimum, make the NCAAT.
They will have a very talented PG to run the show along with some other experienced backcourt players (Mays and Edwards). The two biggest weaknesses from last year's team (interior defense and rebounding) SHOULD be fixed. Bigby-Williams should be a Tyrus Thomas like presence inside (though it's hard to expect him to be THAT good). Emmitt Williams is all effort and should be tough to stop on the glass. He's also going to try to block everything (hopefully Wade can control that aggression). Reid should be very versatile on offense and doesn't HAVE to carry the rebounding load (though he should be capable). They also have guys that can create one-on-one mismatches. Smart is tough to guard. Days can score both inside and out. Taylor should be the tough wing defender Wade wants and Rachal has already shown he can battle both on the glass and defensively.
This isn't just the next step in the rebuilding process. This is THE YEAR to make noise and the most talented team Wade has ever coached...probably anywhere (even as an assistant). Many of these guys likely won't be here next season, so 18-19 is the year to go ALL IN

I'm extremely sad that my dad probably won't make it to see it. We have good conversations about the incoming class and then I remember that fact and it hurts me.

Win a few games in the tourney.
Depending on the matchup, id be stoked if we went down in the round of 32 as long as it’s a well played game.

I hope he makes it through to see them play, man.

The best Talent since Shaq, Stanley & CJ, at least Sweet 16.

Championship or bust.
That should be the expectations for every sport.
at least according to most posters on the rant

Sorry to hear about your situation Jester. I think they get ESPN in heaven so your dad won’t miss a thing

The tournament can be such a crap shoot. My very early and minimum expectations I guess would be a top 4 SEC finish, NCAA tournament berth and at least one tourney win.

Win 20 games. Hopefully make a run. A blind man could see the progress Wade has made. I have full faith in the direction he is leading the program. If we hang on to him I believe he will win a national title eventually.

11 conference wins and 1-2 wins in the NCAAT

What am I expecting? Top 4 SEC and Sweet 16
What would I be satisfied with? Making the dance at all and playing consistent all year. The Tournament is such a wild card. One bad game doesn't mean you are a worse overall team than the one you're playing, but it does end your season.

Natty or bust. Fire Will Wade if in 2 years if we do not have a national championship in hand

I just don’t get why people are so high on this guy. I watched him play in the tourney with Oregon for two years and he was a non factor. I think this board is setting themselves up for disappointment with this guy.
...but hopefully I’m wrong.

Make ncaa tourny bare minimum. A sweet sixteen or better would be great. I think we should be in contention for sec title as well.
