The "show cause" penalty against him is expired so he can be hired by any NCAA program without any penalty on that institution.

I agree Herman is #1 but why choose Petrino over Kelly if Kelly is available? Talk about a big named offensively-minded hire, and there are some notably successful college coaches now who did a stint in the NFL (to include Petrino, Saban and Harbaugh...)

People are now under the assumption that he can't coach because he hasn't won the super bowl in his 3 NFL seasons.

That's true... neither Saban nor Spurrier won in the NFL either.

Kelly is not doing poorly in the NFL.

Also, any time he plated a team with a defense, he lost.

LS, Aubun, Stanford, USC (occasionally).

not saying im totally against it there are just better options. of course if the administration goes through the list with a bunch of NO's chip wouldnt be a horrible pickup

I would take him in a heartbeat, even before Herman the regurgitated pick that everyone defaults to. Wouldn't mind Herman either, just sayin Kelly would electrify this talent...

He went 46-7 at Oregon with 4 straight trips to BCS Bowls.

And the fricking dude spent his life growing up in New Hampshire, so I wish the "USC lock" shite would stop.

I think Kelly would adapt his offense to the talent he gets here vs. what he got at Oregon. It would be much more physical and LOS-based. I think he's probably learned a lot in the NFL.

He's a smart dude and would be instantly successful here.

His current contract with the 49s is $6M a year; that is in the ballpark for what we're expecting to pay Les' replacement, right? If LSU wants to give LSU fans an offensive philosophy change Kelly is about as night-and-day from Les as possible. If he could keep our current D staff, look out...

I want a complete different team than Les Miles run team. Herman is good bc he runs soread to perfection. Not the gimmick auburn spread. Chip is mastermind on lffende and you would be stupid to think he wouldn't have success in college again especially with LSU athletes.

That's because he didn't have an defense that was on par with those teams, being In the SEC he will be able to recruit those defensive players...
