The camera man seemed to be extremely fond of one particular ND cheerleader around 41:00 and some others, but particularly at 43:33.

I was at the game. It was our first year to have our season tickets on the east side. We still have those seats. One of my 5 all time favorite games. I was going to Southeastern at the time.

Fond reminder of when LSU FB was like being called by John Ferguson and Walter Hill before the buffoonery of what Hawthorne has delivered for far too many years. ABC broadcast on TV, but this radio call.

I remember her. There was a lot made about her and I believe she was offered a modelling contract as a result of being noticed as a ND cheerleader.

Yep, most of the athletes then were real students who actually earned a legit degree. I think there were about a dozen players on that team who were in advanced ROTC and later were commissioned 2nd Lts.
There were two Townsend brothers who played at ND who had another brother that played basketball at USL.

I was there. Best game I've ever watched in tiger stadium.
We're going to send that video to Alleva and Fasbender so they can see how the field should be painted. (Keep the Tiger Eye though)
BTW, Bert Jones.

Had to add my own "I was there." Stadium was electric. This and the Ole Miss game that's been mentioned in this thread are still two of my all time greatest sports thrills and memories. Good ol' days for sure. Bert Jones, Tommy Cassanova still all time favorites.

"Wasn't Art Cantrelle supposed to be a badass fighter? Not saying he couldn't/wouldn't/didn't stomp mud holes on the reg, but I expected him to be a bit more fierce looking."
I thought the same thing! Someone should have put a sign on him so you could better see what you were dealing with.

Was 7 years old, watched on national TV. Was one of my very first, and best, memories of LSU football.

Well what set it up was the previous season (70) heartbreak L @ ND with Joe T, Tim Gatewood and co which then set deal for ABC for one of first at the time prime time college games and Tiger fans had this one circled since that first game hit 0:00! So even though we lost 2 already ( I think) the stage was set for a big tiger showing and was very much one of our tiger finest showings despite the ND team a bit depleted of stars that year!
Never forget watch this with my dad on that tv with the whole country seeing sat nite in DV as a 10 grader!

I've seen a lot of games in TS. This one was rocking the second they let us into the stadium. The student section was full immediately and was extremely rowdy pregame. It's still my all-time favorite night in TS.

I was 25 with 3 chillins' at the time. Found a baby sitter so the now deceased wife could go. The last TD from Lyons to Hamilton is one for the ages...Andy leaned on the ND DB looking left and in a blink cut right. The DB was still looking left when Hamilton caught the ball right in front of us near the cormer. Will never forget that!

What did that have to do with there being a whole lotta white boys?

Gotta love the forearm-to-the-face WR pick on Andy Hamilton's first touchdown catch. Tigers played that game with some serious attitude.
The play is at the 9:50 mark.
Isolated slo-mo replays at 12:30 and 13:00.

amazingly enough the 1970 LSU-Notre Dame game wasn't televised, I came home that weekend after basic and AIT and listened to the game on the radio with my parents...will never forget John McKeithen coming on the radio and ranting "we have more Catholics on our team than Notre Dame does"
the 1971 game...woke up at around 0300 and listened on AFN radio from Wiley Barracks in Neu Ulm...
72 Ole Miss...was in the student section, turned 21 at midnight!!!!
