LSU is a damn attractive place to coach. a potential DC will have great athletes, a damn good staff and the experience level is very good right now.

chavis was paid very well here; one of the best DC salaries in football. so, give miles the ok to pay up to 1.7 mil and I think we can get a top flight DC to come here.

chavis did a good job here. but I think we will hire someone as good OR BETTER. and LSU will be in a mode to hire somebody quick and will pay more than they were willing to pay Chavis.

LSU is a big time program. Ask the NFL. Chavis was a liability as a recruiter. Thats extra work, responsibility and INCOME for the rest of the staff and the AD. Tough decisions have to be made from time to time. This looks like a win-win for all, if we get Pendergast and he's the recruiter, he's reported to be. Small bump in the road for a guy like Miles.

But no better than 7 or 8 other SEC schools. We constantly overestimate our players while underestimating our opponents'. And it seems, at least in the past 3 seasons, that our coaching staff doesn't do a great job of "coaching 'em up." Miss St., Ole Miss, Auburn and Arkansas all did a better job of this than we did in 2014. And Alabama is in a category of its own when it comes to taking talented players and making them better through coaching.
