By the way, only Missouri has a worse batting average in the SEC than Arkansas. So, there's that.

If this is true, does that probably mean Coleman goes tomorrow? He didn't pitch last night, and Anderson threw 2 innings, so he's out. Big gamble for the whole weekend, though, because if he gets run early, it's really make it really hard on the pen the rest of the weekend. But, we will have Hurd to come out of the pen and go 3-4 innings in Game 2 or 3 should the situation arises. Or just a high leverage 1 or 2. It'd be a gamble, but could pay off.

And Coleman prefers to start and has a history of stepping up and pitching over his head in big games. Maybe he answers the call in a big way and surprises us.

My guess is Herring.

Also, if Jay’s goal is to win game 1, Holman gives us the best shot at that.

I agree with that, which is why I think keeping the rotation schedule is the driver. But I could be wrong. He may discuss it in one of the gametime interviews.

I'm sure he'll say keeping the schedule the same is the reason publicly, but it's likely not. Personally, I think it's Jay playing to try to win at least one game this series, similar to what teams did against us last year with Skenes. I also think it could be the beginning of the end for Hurd and the game 3 starter, at least for now.

Let's be real here, if Hurd doesn't have a 7 ERA, and the team isn't 2-4 in his starts, Holman would be pitching tomorrow. Agree with the Herring start prediction, maybe Ack, absolute wild card Hellmers.

Maybe just trying to keep Holman/Jump on normal rest?

Except that we play Thurs/Fri/Sat the following weekend as well

Is Jay conceding Game 1?

Anyone would do this. Try to steal a game.

Still… keeps them on normal rest

My thoughts are Hurd is going to his role last year. We could have really used him to cover the end of Saturday and give us a legit RH arm in the pen

If we can win a game at arky, win a series out of either vandy, or tennessee then theres hope. Especially if we get hot at the end of the season. We can still host a regional.

So do you think they will pitch games 2 & 3 against Vanderbilt as well?

It’s a possibility. How Hurd is used this week could be telling. Obviously, you couldn’t start him this week due to going Sunday. He could easily be slid on the Thursday spot if need be.

I guess I just disagree. Vandy is a very winnable series, I would hate the idea of throwing Hurd game 1 of that series.

Not optimal, I agree with you. Just trying to figure it out myself. Maybe, CJJ factoring in that We go back to normal weekend series after Vandy until last series of year.

Skenes never got knocked out of a game in the 1st inning. So I’d say he’s not Skenes level.

No maybe not but he’s fricking dominating. 1.24 Era with 62ks in 29 innings

More to do with normal days rest from what I’ve seen. But I like it.
