We Got the Wrong Guy Back in '11

We picked up Kragthorpe as OC, but instead we should've grabbed Jeff Brohm aka the head coach of WKU.
Brohm was QB/OC/Asst HC at Louisville under both Petrino and Kragthorpe for some time.
At one time, Saban actually offered him the OC job at Bama and Brohm turned him down.
Louisville was successful under Petrino but when Krag took over he underachieved, wasn't a strong recruiter, and never had control of the program (sounds about right). At WKU, the Hilltoppers have finished inside the Top 10 in Total Offense (No. 4 in 2014, No. 9 in 2015), Passing Offense (No. 2 in 2014, No. 4 in 2015) and Scoring Offense (No. 6 in 2014, No. 3 in 2015) each of Brohm's two seasons
QBs have done well when Brohm has been around them:
- Brian Brohm (Jeffs brother) - 10,775 pass yds, 158 QBR, 71/24 td/int, Conference USA Freshman of the Year, 2006 Heisman Cand, and 2nd Team All Big East Quarterback
-Brandon Doughty at WKU (325 yds, 3tds and 1int against us last season) - 12,855 pass yds, 161 QBR, 111/34 td/int, First-team All-C-USA (2015),2× C-USA MVP (14,15), Second-team All-C-USA (2014), Sammy Baugh Trophy (2014)
- Mike White - just put up 517 and 3tds on Rice last week
I don't think White puts up those type of numbers against Bama this weekend, but I'll be interested in those results

Doesn't matter. Leslie would have shut him down....

It would not have made any difference since Miles would have dictated what offense to run.

You're probably right about that, but maybe he'd of developed a better QB than we've seen

It doesn't matter if we have Shannon Dawson, Paul Johnson, or David Shaw. We're running Les Miles' offense.

In order to be a successful HC, you can't be intimidated by the success of other coaches under you. Look at the coaches Saban and Meyer have produced.

Couldn't foresee Parkinson's.
The problem was the next two years. Yeah, you had to make due, but you should have hired someone in 12, and because you didn't, you shouldn't demote the guy you chose and expect everything to be cool.
Miles is loyal to a fault. But it's the reason players like him, and it's a reason some good coaches continue to coach under him.
So double-edged sword there.

It's been diff under every coordinator though.
Yes, Les wants to play a certain way, but the actual play calling has been diff.
And imo there is nothing wrong with wanting to pound the football, but you better have a stellar oline.
I'll say it, Lee or Jefferson would have been enough to win that game on Saturday.
If there was a season I felt Les took more of the reigns was in 2011. That offense looked nothing like 2013. Throwing down field just reeks of cam in the NFL. People bitched so much about the option, now they bitch we don't run it.
You can't say shite like that or even pull up tape and honestly say it has been the same. It hasn't.

Lee would've made much better reads, thrown more catch-able passes and certainly wouldn't have thrown that last pick.
