More interest than golf or track, but no one bitches about that.

Rumor is that Beth Torina from Florida International will be announced as the coach tomorrow.

How we went from Pat Murphy to Beth Torina is beyond me, but....

If that's the case, what a cluster this search turned out to be.

FWIW Bryan Lazare said he is hearing nothing about the opening as of ten minutes ago. Probably not worth much since he likely doesn't have any sources with a good bead on softball.

I went to a game last year. It was a good time. I took a bus full of softball players after a softball tourney. We sat up on the hill, and LSU hit 4 bombs in the game.

The games move quick so if you have really young kids it's not bad. A few parents set up baby pins up top.

In no way am I trying to say it's better than baseball, but I had a good time there.

Have you ever gone to a top end college softball game??? There is more action/excitement than any other female sport out there. Cali and Arizona picked up on this years ago...

Maybe, maybe not. There are plenty of successful coaches from smaller schools who can do very well.

You are correct Foshizzle. The sport of College Softball is LOADED with coaching talent. There is a whole new line of young eager coaches out there working their way up the ranks

I agree with this but if we go from potentially getting a coach with 6 WCWS appearances to a coach with just 1 postseason appearance it's going to naturally feel like a letdown.

I can't believe we are settling for a coach like Torina. I know for a fact that LSU officials called Ga. Tech and was given permission to talk to Perkins, but never called her for an interview.

Perkins was very interested in the position and made that known to LSU officials both before and after the Murphy debacle. I can't see for the life of me why you wouldn't at least interview Perkins.

Perkins was named ACC Coach of the Year the last 3 seasons, Torina was Sunbelt Coach of the Year once.

Compare the two biographies and you tell me who is more qualified.

Sharon Perkins

Beth Torina

Unfortunately the little whiny dude from Bama fricked us in multiple ways.

Bayou, from reading the bios, seems as though Torino may be better positioned recruiting wise. Even though most of the best players are from Cali, she has strong connections in Texas from her Houston days and Florida from her current position. And to me, this sport is predicated upon top notch recruiting.
