Off topic, but didn't the SEC bracket have the survivor of the loser's bracket switch sides in prior years?

Yes, for several years. I don't know when it switched back to keeping the brackets isolated, but it may have been when the semi finals were changed to single elimination since a reason for switching sides was to avoid the potential for the same teams playing each other three times in a short period of time.

Miss State won the SEC. They are more of a lock than Florida

Hey, I'll defer to you guys because I don't follow college baseball all that intensely. That said, does conference standing matter more than the overall metrics? I know in basketball the committee uses a "nitty gritty" report for the numbers and conference standings aren't even listed. I can't imagine college baseball would be all that different

compare UF to MSU:

Florida has a better RPI (2 vs. 9); better overall SOS (3 vs. 15); a significantly better non-conf RPI and SOS ranking; and 5 more wins vs. the RPI top 50.

Compare LSU to MSU:

LSU has a better RPI (7 vs. 9); better overall SOS (7 vs. 15); a significantly better non-conf RPI and SOS ranking; a win tonight would give LSU just as many wins away from home as MSU and would also give LSU a better record against the RPI top 50 than MSU.

Obviously MSU winning the SEC is a big deal. But I suspect (much like basketball) the committee looks at the season as a whole, not just the conf. standings. Looking at all the REALLY important metrics: SOS, wins away from home; wins against the best teams in the country, with a win tonight, LSU would edge out MSU in pretty much all of them.

MSU won the SEC, beat us head to head, only lost 1 series to A&M. They are locked in as a national seed. There is no arguing that.

It doesn't. I was just wrong. I'm not trying to defend myself. I'm explaining why I was wrong.

No doubt. But that's just in conf. play. They played an awful non-conf. schedule though. Literally, the worst ranked non-conf. schedule of the top 30 teams. While they were great in conf. play, the question becomes how much will the committee penalize them for such a bad schedule outside of SEC play?

They are getting a national seed as the regular season champ of the #1 conference. This isnt up for debate
