while paterno was running their program into the ground his last 10 years, the fan base still held him in high esteem and didn't seem to be bothered that they were perennial losers. it was hard trying to watch penn state play - down by 2 scores, 2 minutes to go, penn state at midfield with a 4th and 8, and paterno would punt.

anyway, the fanbase at LSU is not at all like that. we got tired of the beloved cholly mac for not running an offense, and now we are fed up with miles for the same thing.

Bear Bryant had something to do with his firing too. Couldn't beat them.

yeah, and cholly insisted on playing smashmouth football without the depth to do so. he would not try to develop an innovative passing offense.

LSU has a bad season if we lose one game according to the fanbase.

I talked to several Penn St fans about this when we played them in the bowl game. They stuck with Joe Pa so much because they were afraid of being like Kansas St when Snyder left. Mediocrity is much better than losing. They are located in the middle of the state, far from Pittsburgh and Philly without minimal attractions for recruits

If LSU gave a shite about standards--academic, character, or otherwise--I would be OK with lowered expectations.
