On offense:

Take Gordon and Stokes out in 21 sets. Replace with Smith, Dickson and Jeter.

Take Dickson, jeter out of 31 or 22 sets. . Put Gordon or stokes in.

Defense:

Recruit men who are football players in front 7 . Not athletes you want to make in to football players.

0-13 on 3rd downs, 1-5 on 4th downs? LSU could produce those results without a coach ... I don’t think anything sums up the absolute abysmal performance of a coaching staff. But you don’t get that bad in one night ... this progression of ineptitude is the result of a head coach who is unable to fulfill his job. There’s no way you can blame this performance on the lack of talent, granted not many teams can go into Auburn right now and win, but this debacle is the product of a coach without inspiration and knowledge of a fast and progressing game.

Scheme.
Scheme.
Scheme.

We have to minimize weaknesses via scheme.

The offensive scheme we are running requires you to be flawless in your execution. The defense has the advantages with our personnel groupings in 21-22-31 sets.

Some suggestions:
a) We don't have to stop the other team’s O cold every possession. Just hold'em to a FG and that would be a little victory. Adopt a bend-don’t break approach.

b) Take some risks to make other teams play outside their comfort zone. Be unconventional. Jump some routes. I'm not on the anti-Welter train and Beckwith will miss some plays, but I think he'll make some plays that Welter can't. So play him more.

c) Handle our QBs better. This we can do immediately and it would provide instant returns. Start the game with some easy throws to get them comfortable. Our QB’s are talented but when they play tentatively it’s self-defeating.

d) Take advantage of our mismatches, e.g., Dupree and Dural are a mismatch for almost every CB in the SEC. Attack weaknesses. Play our best players. LF7 gives us or best chance for a HR at RB.

e) Involve the TE in the passing game. Why we don’t is mesmerizing.

"The offensive scheme we are running requires you to be flawless in your execution" AND it completely ignores our actual strengths..

I've been screaming this since Wisconsin. Harris/Jennings need to be constant threats to run out of the shotgun. And we need to make them protect the corner. Spread em out with a single back and a read option threat.

Katy Tiger, I think you are on the right track. After watching the Auburn debacle, I now believe LSU must look to sign one or 2 JUCO DT's.

But it is ridiculous what the SEC has done to not allow Travonte Valentine to play. I know there are many other positions where improvement is needed, but the defensive tackle play is not nearly up to its usual standards. Last year, it was often said that both Johnson & Ferguson were underachievers, but the results were a lot better, so maybe in comparison to this season, they played a bit better than many of us thought.

I think the lack of depth at DT is hurting the team and the failure of those three redshirt frosh to contribute much is magnified with Valentine not being available.

Of course, the playcalling has been terrible, and that is well recognized. So it is a combination of a several things--also the linebacker play has not been consistent and even those highly ranked DB's have not played as well as we projected.

And the coaching staff has been outdone certainly in the two SEC games.

Valentine couldn't hurt. But think abnout it, even if was Glenn Dorsey we were talking about, he wouldn't solve our DL problems as a true Fr.

I agree....different looks are great. However, if you going to be a 21-22-set probably 90 percent of the time, a change in personnel would work just as well as showing different formations.

This team with this personnel with the schemes employed on both O & D may not be fixable this year.

To run a power running O you need at a minimum a dominant OL

Chavis' D is best also when the DL is dominant.

Doesn't seem like the personnel is in the program to be dominant along the lines.

1) Spread them out 3-4 wide in shotgun & run and throw from this package . Neither of our quarterbacks are I formation guys & teams are stacking the box.

2) Be less predictable. If it's run, run, pass 90% of the time, it's not too hard to defend. Throw on first down some. It's not fair to our O line or RB's to run into a brick wall. We're gonna get someone killed. See #1 above (same reasoning)

3) if Brandon Harris is gonna start, get him to pick 10-15 plays (from the playbook) he is most comfortable with & run those starting with Florida, at least get him into a rhythm (until he learns more of the playbook) Why call plays he either doesn't know or isn't proficient at ?

4) A few short, safe passes to the tight end & Florida might have a heart attack due to surprise .

We've had down years in the past but having a down year while the rest of the West has not just gotten better but are all now light years ahead of us. Modern day LSU football has never experienced this. Could be a difficult road to get it back. On another note, how in the world can we expect a young QB who has NEVER and I mean NEVER in his entire football career, had to get under center? Why put this kid in this situation for the first time in his life on the road in an SEC game? BH is a shotgun QB and has been since high school. What kind of coaching staff would say "lets put him under center even though he's never done it before" It makes no sense at all and very unfair to the kid.

Stock up on DL/OL recruits and get back to the basics. Get rid of the fullback position.

On offense, run an offense that will play to jennings/harris strengths.

On defense, play the d lineman we have and rotate them. Same on the lbs.
