A few suggestions:
- Chanda Rigby at Troy. Agree on this one. Community would love her and she's been consistant winner at Troy.
- Megan Duffy at Marquette. Has won at every stop. She want to move south?
- Adia Barnes at Arizona. Turned Pac 10 program into national power. Basically same thing Nicki did at UCLA.
- Angel Elderkin at App State. Seemed to be a fan favorite when she was here as asst. Turning around App State program.
- Tina Langley at Rice. Great success at Maryland too. Has Rice dominating and now has deep Texas ties. Should be first call.
- Lindy Laroque at UNLV. Young and energetic. Turned around UNLV in first year...during pandemic...without much of an off-season. Will be power5 coach in very near future. Great in situations, close games. Saves you $300k/year and ceiling is really high. Should be second call.

I would take any of those right now. Barnes would be great but she is at her alma mater and they will lock her up after this year. Laroque will end up back at Stanford when VanDerVeer retires. I think the others are great options. Something needs to happen.

Thought about her but she played at Zona, probably too entrenched.

The time of Elves and Nikki has ended.

The reign of Queen Kim is upon us.

Kim and Will.

Hire Kim and let her teach the men's team some defense too!

What about Dobee Plaisance down at Nicholls St? Daughter played at LSU. Very successful at Loyola-NO. Has had some pretty good success at Nicholls.

No. You're thinking of Trindon Holloway.

There are plenty of mid-majors who would jump at the chance and who $700,000K would work. That is how we got our MB and Softball coaches, both of whom by most any measure have elevated their programs. No need to go for Ole Miss coach. Also, help me out sainstfan, 357 et al, isnt NF's buyout only 200k?

Don't forget she's graduated 100% of her players that have stayed all four years just like her mentor Pat Summitt.

It's Women's sports so I really don't give a shite, but Caldwell has literally done nothing in her tenure. The business model would have fired her 5 years ago.

I agree. There are a few coaches at mid-majors that would work, in addition to the ones named earlier in this thread. But the bottom line is this, if you want a great coach, then you can't get caught up in trying to get them cheap. Paying a coach $700K/year, in this current climate of elite women's basketball, is a baseline salary for a great coach.

Here is her contract

Nikki Fargas Contract

They actually made amendments due to COVID year so she will have a reduced pay salary and supplemental compensation by 5%

If LSU buys her out, they would only owe her $200,000 since her contract expires in 2022

If she has what it takes, why is she hiding it? She does not or cannot effectively recruit. Recruiting is the lifeblood of any program. She may well know the Xs and Os, but if you can't recruit, it will make little difference. Fact, she has driven LSU WBB to just barely mediocrity. Woodward must be fine with that as was Alleva. Personally, LSU should make its best effort to excel in every sport. It shows a lack of commitment to women's sports. In light of the abysmal handling of the sexual assault allegations, LSU should re-double its efforts to promote and support women's sports. It just might help our image with all the negativity around Guice, Drake, Les, et al.

The team lost to some "really good teams." Coach Vargas needs to stay, The program will do just fine.
