Yeah, there's always holding, but #62 left tackle was basically in Key's jersey the whole time. It was laughable.

They weren't just holding, there were some horse collars on their O-line that went uncalled. I think the Refs just knew they had to get the game in that night, so they had to let it go...

It's my observation that holding is now allowed in D1 football. It's purely a situational judgement call by a ref now. LSU does it too.

It's all feeding off the NFL where offenses get all the advantages.

The gaps btwn OL for TT makes it pretty much impossible not to hold especially when teams constantly run stunts.

I guess TT and other spread teams realize that refs won't call holding every play so just let it ride.

I remember the play were LSU defensive lineman got a 15 yard illegal participation penalty but there was also an obvious hold at the line of scrimmage on the same play by a TT offensive lineman against one of LSU Defensive lineman. A flag was drop at the spot of the holding foul but it was not acknowledged. When the referee announced the illegal petrification penalty nothing was said about the first flag at the line of scrimmage for holding against TT.

Well on the same play, the TT OL ripped off the DL's helmet which should have been a penalty as well.

The helmet was absolutely not ripped off. It was on loose and indirect contact made it pop off.

One of my favorite and most ridiculous quotes from our favorite ref:

quote:

REFEREE: What would you say as a referee is your toughest call?

RITTER: You know it’s managing the holding that we see play in play out, and trying to gauge the impact that that hold has on a play and whether or not it’s worthy of a foul.

That was a right cross to the facemask that Tyson would cringe at.

I was wondering how LSU got called for O line too far down on a broken play wiping out a 35 yard gain, but TT never got called for o line too far down field when their QB would scramble around for 5 minutes. Was their O line that disciplined that they never wandered too far down field? I watched from home and you don't get a full field view very often.

Short answer. frick no.

There were multiple times where their oline was already at the new line of scrimmage after a long pass play.

That said I actually didn't mind the officiating. They very rarely got in the way of the game. I would have liked some holding calls however.

Every single time Mahomes broke the pocket, they could have called TT for holding. It was ridiculous.

Hands to the face should have been called.

Also, offensive lineman were way downfield on more than one of Mahomes' scrambles and throws.

Ever since Key hit the field in an LSU jersey he has been held multiple times per game with no call. He is such a beast that they have to hold him.

Meanwhile, I lost count at how many huge plays we had called back for holding.
