While I never take the time to post, I had to chime in. I stayed to the very end in the student section and it had to be one the most fun losses ever. It was truly amazing how many students were still there and obviously the juice was flowing. There was someone in front of me holding an umbrella most of the game, with no top! Football was not what it is today, but the parties sure were better.

I remember watching that game at my girlfriend's apartment in Houston. I felt really upset but my woman helped me feel better that night. Oh how I miss that girl.

My aunt had two sets of tickets. She didn't know if she was coming or not because of the rain. One set was under the press box, high and dry. The other set, nice tickets but werent' protected. We stayed under the press box the first half while everyone was getting drenched. Then his mom shows up right before half and we had to move. At half time a squal hits and you couldn't see the other side of the stadium. Not kidding. Left after the 3rd qtr. Yea, the peach bowl did ease the pain 25 years later.

Thus and the bama 79 games were easily the worst weather games I've ever attended in TS.

and the Miami 88 game changed the program. Wasn't the same for almost 10 years afterward, a total massacre

Game was played in a squall with about 30 MPH wind. Tigers won the toss and elected to received. Miami took the wind. Miami kicked off into the stands. Hodson couldn't get the ball to the 30 yard line against the wind. Tigers punt 15 yards. Hurcs drive quick 35 to score with the wind. Repeat two more times and Tigers down 21-0 in first quarter and coasted to win. Tigers should have taken the wind on the coin toss.

Was also there and you're spot on with your recollection. The Canes were a better team but on another night the Tigers could have hung with them. That was the same Tiger Team which rocked a powerful Auburn team in the Earthquake game. Pretty sure some of the winds hit gale force in the upper decks that night. Left at end of the 3rd quarter, soaked to the gills and full of Rum.

As if getting thumped wasn't bad enough…
I parked on the side of a ditch - like an idiot with all 4 tires in the dirt.
After the game, and so much rain, my car slid to the bottom of said ditch...the date was not amused.

ditto, I was a grown arse man
some people around us gave us a garbage bag to put over us, not to help keep dry but because we were getting inoculated by the rain and were starting to bleed

Remember this game well because every Miami game was a chance to see them lose. I can't remember if it was on TV or not. Maybe ESPN but I just heard the score.

At this time, NOBODY in the SEC could touch Miami. Remember the first game that season was FSU-MIami and FSU was the concensus pre-season number one and Miami had a 31-0 lead by halftime on the Noles. They lost a tough game to ND but Miami was still the best team in the country. In the 80's there was Miami, Penn State and everybody else.

If I recall correctly, Miami was beating us like 21-0 near halftime. We kicked a field goal before halftime and up went a shite ton of fireworks. I was like, really, 21-3, but I guess we had them ready to go and they probably could not be saved for a future game.

The other thing about that game was it seemed like Steve Walsh had all day to throw with our three man rush.
