For me, the calendar year always begin with College Football. Beating Bama on final play and winning the West. Mulkey winning NC in womans basketball. Gymnastics reaching Final Four. Track and Field having success and it ends with a National Championship in Baseball. I cannot remember a better sports year than this one and I am 52 years old.

I don't like these threads because some people weren't even around during certain seasons, but as a millennial, you're going to have a tough time arguing 2019 LSU Football with me

ETA: Why are you BMI+ nerds DVing me?
ETA2: Oh, it's "year"

I believe so, and if this year's football team counts, I expect them to do big things.

For 2023, so far.
I’m a huge Baseball fan, so every year they win it is the best year for me. Not really into women’s basketball, but it was nice seeing their incredible season.
I’ll wait to see what football does in 2023, but like the annoying gator fans in my ear all weekend, it’s great to be an LSU Tiger!

The thread says overall sports. You picked a year in which football won and everything else was down. So being young 2023 would 1000% the best you’ve ever seen. Fee lucky, some of us 40+ have seen some shite, not good shite.
Anymore questions?

2023 is definitely up there and would have been a unanimous number one choice if we hadn’t gotten rid of Will Wade

I mean two national championships in the same year in major sports pretty much gives it the number 1 spot. I can’t think of another year that’s happened.

No. This was an awesome year. Happy for baseball and WBB. But the greatest sports year in history at a school like LSU, can’t be a year where football didn’t win it all.

If Duke ever wins a football Natty but the basketball team only makes the Sweet 16 guess what? Not the greatest year.

Gotta go with 2019 and the Greatest College Football Team.

Pre-Covid, transfer portal, and Pre-NIL...the game has changed.

2019
Football is king and that was the best season of any LSU team and arguably any college team. It doesn't matter if all the other teams lose every competition, 2019 is the greatest.

2023 is starting out great no doubt and BK may bring in another title and how they do could change the conversation.

1986 was pretty special - no national titles but really great year.

First CWS.
Won SEC football for the first time in 26 years.
Went to the final 4 in MBB.

1985/86 had we won our bowl game, I believe we would’ve been the first team to make the college, World Series, final four, and win a ball game.(lost to Baylor)

Kansas did it in ‘92-‘93

It's high on the list, if not the best.

I seem to remember women's basketball going a long way in 1986 as well, maybe Elite 8. Not sure about that however

Calendar year, yes. School year, no. Final 4 was 85-86 school year.

86-87 school year was still great.

Football SEC Champs
Basketball Elite 8
Baseball CWS

There’s always going to be those sports like Football and basketball that cross over so I always defer to school year because the seniors. Football technically won in 2”04 but it was for 2003.
.
If you look at it like you did then women’s Track won a championship in 1987.
MBB went to the Elite 8 with Ben McDonald and CWS final 4 with… Ben McDonald.
