Was there ever more talent at skill positions on offense at LSU?

If you defined that as the starting RB, QB, and 2 WRs I think you'd be hard pressed to find more (mature) talent on one team.

I'm sure you could look at some roster and pick a pretty talented bunch but I'd be willing to bet some weren't in their prime yet.

Hill, Mett, Landry, Beckham are all in their college prime IMO

2006 team stands out as a possibility but I don't think we had any RB as good as Hill

We are where we should be. I don't think we have more talent than we've ever had (or even over the last 5 years). They are just being developed for the first time since Jimbo left.

Well 2006 we had 3 1st rounders and will only scored 3 points vs Auburn. Could you imagine the meltdown if we only score 3 this weekend?

Talent is at an all-time high IMO.

'87 had:
Hodson (QB)
Rogie Magee (WR)
Wendell Davis (WR)
Tony Moss (WR)
Brian Kinchen (TE)
Harvey Williams (RB)
Eddie Fuller (RB)

Mett won't have a better career but is having a better season than Hodson. '87 receivers have a slight edge. '13 RBs are better than.

2001
QB: Rohan
WR: Reed
WR: Clayton
RB: Davis
RB: Toefield

Not saying better but just as fun to watch.

Only the TE position is lackin. Be nice if they had a Jimmy Graham, but you can't have everything.

2006 was the most talented team I've seen at LSU. 11-2 was not a great achievement for that team.

their only loses were to top 8 teams on the road. They were better than Auburn, but Florida was at worst just as good. And 11-2 finishing #3 with a BCS win is most certainly a great achievement.

Sorry. They underachieved by not winning the NC. Doing so the next season. Should have been back to back titles. But the '07 team almost blew it to by losing to two teams worse than Auburn and Florida. Thank god sportswriters throughout the country knew LSU was the most talented team in the country!

That's my point--such a season would've been great any other year. But 2006 was a NC team. Got hosed at AU and played so sloppy at Fla after having an early TD negated by a phantom hold. Jimbo didn't know what to do with all that talent.

1983

QB Wickersham

RB Hilliard

RB James

WR Martin

Not too shabby...

(1984 adds Brian Kinchen, TE, still not too shabby)

2006 had more talent at WR but the 2013 group has more production because of the play calling.
