Didn't O have an axe to grind with LSU in the past? I remember some dirty things being said about him pertaining to LSU years ago. Is there any truth to this and does anyone have any details?

Well, since they were the only ones who wanted to take the risk in hiring him as a HC, then at that time of course yes. But everyone knows if he was offered other places, it wasn't a dream job.

Only thing I seem to recall is him having an agreement to become LSU d-line coach, then backed out to go to Tennessee when Kiffin was hired? Maybe not exactly how it played out. Maybe UT job included recruiting coordinator title also, idk

Was there any negative recruiting when he was at Ole Miss?

I know of 3 coaches who considered Ole Miss a dream job:

Johnny Vaught
Bruiser Kinard
Hugh Freeze

And given a few years, Freeze might have had a wandering eye.

For everybody else, that job has been a career killer or a stepping stone.
