Was JJ handcuffed by BS and DP as a means of getting Ben here?

Or could JJ just not get through to Ben, or was afraid to to try to control him?

Pretty sure Darcy Malone got in a fight with blakeney about who should start. Read it in an email from a TAF member.

Jones a puss. Can't count how many times he should've confronted the refs in games this year and did nothing. Lame Duck coach!

Hell no. Those two are solid.

If by handcuffed you mean clueless how to fix the problems and coach his team then yeah

No, I mean he promised to let Ben do whatever he wanted on the court

He made that promise to Quarterman

There are people on Johnny's staff who's job is to get Simmons ready for the NBA and develop him during his 1 year here.
How Simmons is used or coached in-game falls on Jones.

That would speak volumes about him if he did commit to that. That would just back up everybody's point about him being clueless as a coach

I have had a feeling all along that the parents had a heavy hand on jj this whole year. Major influence from parents not to get hurt etc......What cha think?

After watching all year, Ben is not the face of a program - he needs to be surrounded with talent which JJ did a horrible job with but in his defense I'm sure he was banking or either Martin or Mickey to come back. Second, it blows my mind that we cannot get a coach that runs some type of offense. It reminds me of the John Brady teams that just stand around with their thumbs up their arse. It is embarrassing and pathetic. I'm going to dream this whole Ben Simmons project never happened. . .

Same here and if there ARE coaches on the staff just to pander to simmons and get him ready for the nba, then jj needs to be fired along with the rest. INCLUDING THE AD.
Yes I was screaming. Hell I have been screaming all day.

I truly Tim Quarterman was a virus on this team. He seemed to be jealous of BS and his inconsistent selfish play and attitude dragged the whole team down. It was obvious watching this team play the last ten games there were some locker room problems. Just listening to some of the comments from the players there definitely were some issues. One of the things coaches have to do is understand the egos on this team. JJ failed miserably with the chemistry. It's hard to coach all that talent. There were never any consequences for poor shots, no defense, lack of hustle, dribbling way to long out front, and no effort at times. JJ just stood with his hands on his hips all game long looking clueless

I agree, the PG is an extension of the coach on the floor. Tim was just as pathetic this year.

I don't know if it was Quarterman or not but it damn sure was someone. the team layed down. it really pissed me off and I don't necessarily blame the coach for that. some kids are spoiled and entitled as shite. they are cancers on any "team".

maybe, maybe not. as a person that managed hundreds of sales guys over my career i'm gonna say that sometimes there is little, or even nothing that can be done. I could fire guys, JJ can't. esp a "super star".
a team is 5 guys playing offense and defense and a bench to spell them. this was not a team.

JJ has to recognize the fly in the ointment and do something about it. He sat TQ early in the season for something and he came back and played better for a few games. Then sucked the last ten, he has not played a game since the Kentucky game when he would make a three and point to his jersey running back down the court. Watching that convinced me he was the fly doing that BS everytime he did something. His draft stocked went down the drain with his play this year. It's hard for kid to come into a year thinking he is gonna be the man and he is playing second fiddle to the media blown out of proportion every day coverage of BS. Its been a long time since I can remember the media hyping a kid like that. His stats are off the chart for a freshman 18 year old kid from another country. They have set him up to fail and to put all the failures of that kid on his back is unfair. He will be at worst a top 3 pick in the draft. It's ashame it went down like it did and due to poor something we did not get to watch his full potential as a player. It reminds me of the year taken away from us by the Honey badger when he got kicked off the team. I was so bummed not to be able to watch that kid play another year.

You just can't understand that Johnny is a pretty bad coach?
