Thought he scored 53 against the Gators? Maybe it was 55 and a typo?

Chris never scored 65, I think he scored 53 that night....

Anyway, very impressive for a freshman on the road in first SEC game.

YES, GOOD MEMORIES

No mention of the 1978 Kentucky game. LSU was the last team to beat the National Champions that year. All five starters had fouled out but LSU was not to be denied that day.

I remember, it was an incredible win. I was 18 years old.

you’re right Daddy Dale was a wiz at getting marquee opponents.

In those days there was little Sports TV and no smart phones nor internet.
Sports at LSU was an "Event". Basketball was nothing until Brown came to BR. He was a great promoter and put all he had into building the sport. He was the man for the time.
Wade is the man for these times.

I was 9 at the time. That's the night I fell in love with LSU. My parents took me to several football and basketball games from 78-80 until we moved to Virginia.

Good reason to believe that we will be a NCAA tournament-caliber team for the third consecutive year. That hasn't happened at LSU in 30 years. So he is giving us opportunities to play in meaningful, hopefully memorable games. In essence, that's the job.

That game was the watershed moment for the program under Dale His first 5 years were underwhelming - with his first year actually being his best, the next 4 were not pretty.

But this team had some talent with a young Mackling and Ethan Martin, Senior Kenny Higgs etc.

About half the number of teams made the tournament back the, this one finished 18-9 and would have been on the bubble, but KY was No. 1 and would go on to win the national title.

The win helped propel the program forward and for a sustained period afterward.

I was unable to attend but listened on the radio and it was very tense and exciting.

Ok Dale Brown didn’t truly kick it into another gear with the program until his 7th year or so. Can we just give Will Wade more time? He’s building a legit title contending program here, and we can’t have too many memories this year due to the Covid bullshite.

Yes, who can forget going into the 4 corners stall in Philadelphia once Isiah Thomas went to the bench with three fouls. We should have put the hammer down on them. I was there and could not believe the stupidity. I appreciated him for getting LSU back in bball, but his game coaching was abysmal.

Naw. Dale’s teams were awesome. The crowds were better and the basketball better. More low post action and less of the 3 point pussy shots.

I do remember one dale Brown game in the pmac I would like to forget that I saw in person. Was in the 87 or 88 season I think. We were playing Georgia and we were up by one with one second on the clock and we had the ball to inbound it into play at the end line in the Georgia end of the court....and we lost the game. I don’t remember who from LSU was inbounding the ball but they threw it to the LSU end of the court where no one was. Since no one touched it no time ran off of the clock. Georgia gained possession and inbounded to a cat whose last name was Anderson and he sank a shot from the corner to win it. Damn that was hard to watch.
