It’s incredible to me how many people on this board are pissed at Woodward for this. Wade caught caught with proof of several serious NCAA violations. I don’t care that he was cheating but he was sloppy and stupid with it.

Wade might be the sole reason the LSU basketball program gets hit with serious penalties and people are mad at Woodward because of how he fired him?

I never lived under the delusion that this day may not eventually come. But the timing and manner it was done was petty and wholly unprofessional. You’re punishing students/players who aren’t implicated in the allegations. Players you HAPPILY profited off of all season long. The least you could do was allow the season to end. LSU did not have to file a response to the NOA in the next 1-2 weeks. Which is what remains in the season.

It was a petty move by a petty AD. That’s not to say it was a move that would not have been done eventually. But the timing is chickenshit grandstanding

. This! Wade and Wade ALONE is the reason for all this crap! Well Armstrong too, I guess.

Agreed.....wade doesn’t deserve respect.....move on ... Woodward appears to have made good hires so far..wbb, baseball, football.....
Now as AD , he has to navigate through sanctions and find a new coach.....because of WW....

I somewhat understand what you’re saying, but Woodward’s #1 job is to look out for LSU. If he thinks that firing him now instead of after the tournament could somehow help LSU as far as penalties go I’m totally fine with it.

Then decline the invitation to the tournament. Clearly, by naming an interim HC, they aren’t planning to do that. Or else they would have given notice to the NCAA being that tomorrow is selection Sunday and LSU is likely to be selected. But I’m sure Woodward will happily profit off the share LSU earns for participating in the tournament.

If he ultimately had to fire him, fine. I may disagree with the decision and not like it, but I could understand why. But you don’t do that to the players. THAT is bullshite and petty because you didn’t like the HC (and know this, Woodward has never been a big fan of Wade’s)

You’re saying Woodward doesn’t care about the players while also telling him to decline an invitation to the tournament? Maybe he fired Wade to help mitigate the penalties without actually taking games away from the current players. Did you ever think about that?

That’s garbage. Wade lied to Woodward and LSU over a period of years.

The NOA had not one but a six pack of smoking gun evidence of his transgressions.

While I don’t think it helps our case with the NCAA on the penalty phase allowing him to coach would have hurt.

It’s kind of the definition of lack of institutional control to have kept him.

LSU and Woodward had to play this like this is a total shock to us. Once we saw the evidence we had to act.

He got caught. Time to go. Nothing petty about it. Quit whining.

How have these hires been good so far? The only one to do anything so far is Mulkey

Many of the posters here can't see the forest for the trees. Woodward made the right call.

Go break the rules at work tomorrow and see how long you are kept? Not exactly how one could call this petty.

Woodward is setting his expectations of the staff he is in charge of.

Not to mention WW didn't make them work hard to find him guilty he used a joint bank account? WW knew the consequences of his actions if he got caught so to me its just stupidity.

All in all LSU kept him coaching when it was only alleged, now that he is guilty he is gone. End of story the coaching search continues.

It’s a different flavor of the allegiance to Ed O. The success and life of the program trump any connection to the head coach.

We were basically a sanctioned team before Wade. So who cares? Tell the NCAA to get fricked and keep Wade.

Woodward could have also told the NCAA to go frick themselves and ride with the most successful basketball coach we have ever had in his first 5 years as a HC here. Auburn did this, Kansas did this, teams have done this.

I’ve watched Kansas and Duke Basketball today and I just laugh at the double standards and the terrible product that is College Basketball. If cheating is so bad then why do all the big guys get away with it. LSU Basketball has very, very, very dark days incoming.
