What is so special about VCU? Each coach that has come out of there with their success has not done very well on the higher level. Why aren't we going after a coach who wins ALOT?

Why would Wade be who we need at LSU?

Wade wins a lot at VCU. He's a young, promising coach. He might not be great but he has the potential to be given his age and accomplishments. The only valid criticism I've seen is that VCU coaches don't typically go on to great success at the next level, which isn't even a direct criticism at Wade.

He also turned a really shitty Chattanooga program around quickly and left them in a much better place than he found them.

I think people disregard that because its a small school, but its still something.

2 years prior: 24-40
His 2 years: 40-25 (22-10 2nd year which was best in 15 years there)

I think some people need a reality check on how LSU is looked at around the country when it comes to basketball

None of them are coming to LSU.

I have some hard cheese, LSU is probably no better than a #30 to #40 program in the country. Could it get better? yes, but thats about where it sits right now.

No matter what coach they ultimately decide to go with half the fan base will be happy the other half will be upset.

Don't think I agree with this narrative. Anthony Grant was a bust, but are we really writing off Shaka this early? His first year was solid, and his second year was tough. One and a half disappointments is not enough evidence to stay away from VCU coaches.

I'd venture to say you can't put LSU in the top 65 programs given that we can't make the tournament. I know some teams get in because of conference tournaments but it's not like LSU is really a consistent bubble team.

Kermit has JJ written all over him. There's a reason he's been there over a decade.

We are, they say no because our BB program sucks.

He's a good coach that has potential to be even better. LSU is either getting an up and comer or a past his prime relic. I'd rather roll the dice than take someone who will only make us a borderline tournament team.

considering the state of our basketball program right now and the dumbo running the athletic department...i'd be over the moon if we landed wade.

We have top 25 potential and history, but if you mean like 30-40 as state of the program sits currently I sure as hell wouldn't disagree with that, maybe lower.

I think this is pretty spot on. He's got potential. Best way for LSU to get an elite basketball coach to identify him early. I understand Wade isn't necessarily "a name" but LSU could do a lot worse IMO.
