1930 Pregame, Huey P. Long talking with referees prior to game

quote:

In 1934, Long announced that he had arranged for several trains to carry the entire student body to the Tigers’ away game at Vanderbilt University in Nashville to boost the team’s morale.

Nov 28th, 1936 LSU v Tulane

1937 Construction on Campus

Nov 26th, 1938 LSU vs Tulane

quote:

This series of shots show the last second of the game in which Bert Jones threw a touchdown pass to Brad Davis to tie up the game. The scoreboard images show before and after the touchdown extra point, a diagram of the play, and action shots of the play. Coach Charles McClendon said this after the game: “We always tell our players not to give up even if there’s one second on the board and that’s what it came down to Saturday night.”

what apparatus is hanging around their necks in the earlier photos? I'm curious to see what type of equipment it is.

Cool pics
I'm now convinced I would have made the team in the early years
I bet those fans stayed the whole game.

It's an early nose guard from the pre-helmet days.

Some reports say that they caused more broken noses than they prevented.
