refreshing to have a normal speaking coach that knows how to explain football in a articulate way.

Good video and really shows he understands exactly what JD's tendencies are and I'm sure they spend time in the film room showing him where he misses and could improve.

Amazing to hear the coach clearly acknowledge a problem the fans have been scouring over. Something LSU hasn't had since Saban left.

i love hearing Kelly talk. Last week I had my mind blown when he compared the air raid to the triple option. Then they were able to go and actually execute the plan. I have faith in this guy and LSU will improve dramatically as the season moves on.

Petrino was that way. I do miss it. You listen to guys like that and learn a lot. They can carve up a defense. They just need a decent driver at qb.

Just makes you realize how incompetent our other coaches were. Glad we finally found a good one!

Beats the heck out of "gotta coach him up better".

I do like how he recognized the balancing act.

I felt like Cameron/Miles really neutered both Jennings and Harris as runners.

Makes you wonder if these really good, smart coaches are excited when they get to coach against a Mike leach type…

To be honest, I’m so taken back by him saying that he needs to help coach special teams, I’m not even concerned about the offense. I’m a big BK fan, but him covering for his little buddy just doesn’t cut the mustard in my irrelevant opinion.

Urban Meyer always coached special teams and still had a special teams coach on his championship teams…. It can only help, let it play out.

His buddy has us sitting with a top 8 class that could easily be top 4 if Toviano commits soon. That’s well ahead of the schedule most of us expected at this point in a rebuild, especially how rough this class started out in early Summer. And Kelly trusts him to lock this down.

I’m not making excuses for Pollian because special teams has been terrible and hasn’t improved much at all. However, I just accept that he isn’t going anywhere because of what he means to recruiting and how he handled filling out this roster via the portal. What Pollian is doing right now requires him to be in an on-field position, so Kelly helping and assigning GAs and analysts to help break down the issues and work on solutions is what we have.

That certainly is nice to hear from your head coach. It’s a really honest and completely on target break down of the situation with Daniels. I’m not sure how much he can progress on some things inside of a season, but it certainly is good to know that our staff knows exactly what the issues are and how to balance their approach to improving Daniels’ play without negatively impacting his strengths.

It’s not exactly an uncommon approach either. I would say that Orgeron bringing in a true special teams coordinator with NFL bona fides is more the exception than the rule. It’s quite often a guy with primarily a recruiting focus OR it’s someone splitting duties as a position coach and special teams coach.

As you said, that’s not making excuses for the abysmal special teams play - it’s just acknowledging a reality of the situation. Kelly obviously needs to look at making some changes in how the special teams are handled but I highly doubt he’s going to publicly demote Polian midyear in the middle of a nice recruiting run. I’m honestly a little surprised that people seem to expect this at all.

what do you nean covering for him. They going to fire him 3 games in?

Plus, it's BKs team. If he can fix ST he best damn well fix special teams. Hope he doesn't have the kind of pride you're suggesting.

I know everyone has said this… but his intelligence and ability to communicate football is such a breath of fresh air. Love it
