It is likely that all LSU fans are thrilled when the Tigers win. Perhaps, we make it a much bigger deal than it often is, supposing - for example - that the whole nation if not universe needs to know about the win and praise us. (That is why many get upset because they perceive that sports networks, columnists, reporters, etc. don't duly worship us during a game or after a victory.) Our school's athletic prowess makes us - individually -free great. We accept the glory vicariously.

On the other hand, because of this misplaced notion that EVERYONE has to care when LSU wins, these same folks feel that EVERYONE is making fun of us - and that means each and every Tiger fan (not the team) - if the Tigers don't win every football game in decisive fashion.

The Negatives seem take it personally when the players and coaches do not perform as the Negatigers expected. While under the influence of this self-inflicted shame, they retailiate at those offenders by crying and complaining on radio talk shows and Internet message boards.

I do not represent to anyone that I am not disappointed by poor performances. I may chat about it with co-workers or friends. However, I see no benefit whatsoever to broadcasting my complaints via the Internet. To the contrary, current players and recruits very likely hear the boos and read the disparging remarks, too.

people like discussion...they like debating. They like making predictions. They like discussing what-ifs. They like expressing opinions. People want to be the arm chair coach. It can be fun. It can be construed as being passionate. I think too many people are confusing being critical with being negative.
