Slaughter will be an LSU legend. Smith and Walker were very impressive.

Every year I worry about losing superstars, but then realize we get new ones every year as well.

Smith definitely filled a void at third. Great to have a play maker at first.

It was great to be at their first games and see Smith and Slaughter crack a homer in each.

Future is bright with these two.

I thought Reid was pretty good last year but yeah I can't complain after this weekend.

Reid was very good last year. I'd imagine he'll take third or second next year when Smith moves to SS.

Can't imagine being in his situation. I guess you have to look at the big picture.

It will be a very long season, I'm sure he will get his chance.

I didn't mean to slight Reid. Getting older and was thinking of the start of last year.

I saw Walker over here in Texas one game last year, he should do well.

Is LSU a baseball or football school?

Yeah Reid was absolutely solid last season. I'd kind of compare him to Beau in LF. Nothing really flashy, but consistent and minimizes errors. In both cases there is/was room for improvement, but you really can't complain about having either one in those spots. Depending on how Breaux does he very well may push for that LF spot (possibly even CF if Duplantis reaaaly struggles). If Smith slumps, you might see Reid take over there. But I think that's a good thing. You've got legitimate depth. If we get/stay healthy and our pitching develops as we all hope we are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Thank god it's baseball season again!

I caught a bit of today's game on the radio.

VERY good weekend for LSU baseball. Plenty to be excited about.

Relief pitching looks to be staring out better than last year.

Well, it's still early, but what little we've seen has been pretty good. I think only one or two runs allowed by relief all weekend. Poche went CG SO so that cut out some outings there. G1 after Lange I remember that Gilbert threw one and looked... ehhh OK I guess. Bain threw a decent inning. Today you had the trio of Fresh pitchers throw ~7 of the 9 innings. One of those will likely be a Sunday starter and another will probably be a midweek starter, so it's hard to fully count that as "relief" guys, but it still bodes well overall for our pitching. Norman, who's definitely a relief guy looked good enough and Newman was Newman. All in all I can't really disagree. It's hard to temper expectations early in the season, but so far you really have to nitpick to complain.

It's early & only 3 games but LSU mite have an actual first baseman for the first time in ages. He's smooth as hell around the bag & is obviously athletic enough to make all the plays around the bag, including scooping & stretching it all out.

Good point. He really has looked comfortable out there. Lots of Kramer and others' throws over that way might have been E's. Instead they were awesome plays and outs. That's huge for any player. For a freshman, that's amazing. Just more to be excited about.

It was a great weekend for the freshmen...after playing SS in HS, both of the infielders played great @ their new positions...other than the error & misplayed FB, they were awesome and hit tbe ball well, too...Walker looked ready to roll, and only gave up a couple of hits...
Think we have a lot of to be excited about this season...
