Going to Knoxville for the first time to check that one off the list. Need some good recs on areas of town to stay in since downtown is extremely pricey.

Also wondering if LSU Alumni will be taking over a bar in the area or having a large tailgate?

Any good recs on different bars or restaurants to pregame at on Friday/Saturday are greatly appreciated.

You'll probably have to repost this again in November.

Go up a few days before. Get a cabin in the Pigeon Forge area. You will not regret it

I ended up booking a house through Air BnB for my group instead of multiple hotel rooms downtown. Knoxville must be proud about how much they are price gouging out-of-town fans to come watch their $hitty Vols team lose. I'm not sure if the inventory of houses is still good, or not, but it's worth a look. We are staying 1.5 miles from campus and plan to Uber everywhere for bars/restaurants/tailgating while we are there.

Right until I have to drive home after the game all hammered and get a DUI and spend a night in a PF jail.

From Knoxville...Stay in West Knoxville...Cedar Bluff area has a ton of hotels...If you want to go out downtown hit up the Old City...If you want to be around all the college kids go to Cool Beans on the strip.

Also Calhouns on the river is a good spot to hit up before the game.

The old city if you're over 26. The strip of yours younger

the strip is going away slowly but surely. old city is ok. market square is probably your best bet. west Knoxville over east Knoxville. like someone else posted, get a cabin in pigeon forge or Gatlinburg. its only about 40 minutes from Knoxville.

it's not price gouging - it's simple supply and demand.
