This. CUM didn't become a shitty coach and recruiter overnight. Quarterback play means everthing if Lee continues to improve this can be a great team.

Joe McKnight

I never really jumped on all of his hype to begin with, there was someone else we got that year that I wanted WAY more, I can't remember. In retrospect, "losing" McKnight wasn't that big a deal. Did the Jets cut him? I know they wanted to.

Yeah, McKnight was just SO overrated in high school. He only single-handedly dismantled Hoover. Say what you want, but it didn't look good for Miles to lose McKnight to SC.

Miles had to follow LSUs legend

Does not compute.

Bobby Bowden = Legend
Bo Schembechler = Legend
Jo Pa = Legend
Many others = Legends

Saban = no legend (not yet anyway)

Nick Saban has won just as many national titles as either Bobby Bowden or Joe Paterno. Bo Schembechler never won a national title.

Both of these teams are 100% the respective coaches' players (no more Saban's players crap)
This.

To me it seemed that even with Demps hurt, that LSU has the better team than UF.
Agree, LSU has recruited just as good or better than them over the last few years, this is why fans continually say on here we have some of the best talent, but it isn't being used properly. This supports that argument.
quote:

The 2010 LSU/UF game was a very good gauge of the two coaches.
I think it was a snapshot in time, and not necessarily the final word. I wonder what would have happened if Brantley and Demps weren't injured.
quote:

UF just came off a demoralizing loss at Bama (that was closer than the score looked) and had something to prove on their homefield.
I think this had a lot to do with it.

And to think Miles has been on the "hot seat" all the way through his 6-0 start.

Miles creates his own PR problems by acting like he doesn't know what he's doing, saying stupid things, and making dumb decisions when the game is on the line. You can make the argument that he wins, and that's a black and white argument, but the perception is that it's blind luck. You can't make a black and white argument about a perception problem.

you typed his name so he'll run a search for it and be along pretty soon.

I'm more concerned about finding the recipe for Adazio's spice rub he uses on rib eyes. I hear that shite is de-frickig-licious.

This game was won/lost at the line of scrimmage. Man to man we beat their arse. Demps would not have changed this.

this is so fricking gay when LSU fans or anyone else refers to him like they're best friends when in reality "Sabes" couldn't give two shits whether you live or die.

Urban Meyer (second best coach in college football) record at Florida: 61-12 (34-10)

Les Miles (worst coach in college football) record at LSU over the exact same time frame: 57-15 (30-13)

Urban Meyer is 3.5 games better than Miles over six seasons. He is light years better.

FYI - While looking this up, I noticed that Nick Saban has never been at any one place longer than he was at LSU (five years) in his entire career as an assistant or head coach. I thought that was somewhat remarkable for a career that started in 1975 at Kent State (I didn't include his two years as a GA at Kent State). That's a 35 year career with no more than four years anywhere except LSU. He will most likely be leaving Bama at the end of the season.

In 2007 and 2010, both years Miles "out-coached" Urban, UF was in complete rebuild mode and starting brand new defenses/teams with patchwork unproven freshmen. Both games were close and couldve gone either way. Not taking anything away from lsu, yall won on Saturday and were the better team. Oh how one bounce of the ball changed everything, and everybody's tune

I wonder what would have happened if Sam Montgomery and Will Blackwell hadn't been injured and Perriloux wouldn't have gotten booted early.

Doesn't matter to me. I'm not talking titles. Let's see Saban stay at Bama for 10+ years then I'll consider talking about him being a legend.

Right now, to me, he's just a hired gun and he'll move on before those 10 years. That does not equate legendary status in my book.

The sheer # of Sabanistas on here is proof of that.

I agree with this.

However:

Les Miles (worst coach in college football)
I do not agree with this. Worst coach in CFB?? Au contraire mon ami....take a look out west in New Mexico/Wash St....et al...you really think he's the worst in CFB? Worse than the Vandy coach?
