well there's one example.
but, by definition, when preparing something with multiple ingredients, you're using a recipe.
You don't have to have a cookbook in front of you to be using a recipe.
But I really don't expect you to be able to comprehend that.

Why would you want something not to taste the same last time you made it? Unless it came out tasting like crap.

so yer tellin me that every time somebody cooks something they're using a recipe?
you do realize that a recipe is a SET OF INSTRUCTIONS??
what if some people just go off the top their head when they're cookin and just decide to try to different things?? i wouldnt call that using instructions hero
and yes i know u dont have to have a cookbook in front of u for it to be called "using a recipe"

It's still a recipe. Even if the instructions are "put everthing in a pot, stir it and drink beer". Those are instructions.

arguments over the definition of a recipe aside... i find it hard to believe you could make a decent jambalaya without some kind of recipe... if you want to have your rice cooked correctly you have very nearly 2 times as much water, by weight, as rice.
if you are just throwing things in a pot, you are probably not very good at making jambalaya

not always true, u have water that comes out of the meat so u have to use judgement on how much water to use, if u use 2 cups water per 1 cup rice, plus the water already in the pot from the meat then yer rice might come out mushy, but there's nothin wrong with mushy jambalaya either
