Uh. No one.
As witnessed by the endless threads and posts on this site about it.
But yeah, no one 'cares.'

I promise you, I don't care. UL can call themselves whatever they would like.

Have zero ties to them, have zero hate for them.

I don't get concerned about Nonentities.

: something that does not exist or exists only in the imagination
: nonexistence
: a person or thing of little consequence or significance

Now back to reality.

If Bruce can call himself Caitlyn, ULL can call themselves whatever they want. They both still are what they are.

this is the way I feel. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE in the country outside of Lafayette thinks of them as THE school of Louisiana. Let them proclaim whatever they want. NO ONE takes them seriously, and quite honestly, it's kind of pathetic. They are one of about 6-8 other colleges in Louisiana that are grouped together (ULM, La Tech, ULL, UNO, Tulane, Southeastern, etc....). Instead of being happy when they have any success at all...they are so worried about being something they cannot be, that it ruins their day.

Is the whole thing a matter of "flagship status?" Is the university of Ohio the flagship? And why aren't we calling Texas Texas-Austin? That is their official name is it not? If they want to be Louisiana, fine. We're the Ohio State to their Ohio and I'm okay with that.

I think that's why Ohio State uses "THE Ohio State University"

So they seem to have a problem with Ohio

Anyway, your point about Texas is invalid because Texas IS the flagship of the UT system, and has satellite universities across the state of Texas. ULM, Southeastern, NW State, etc are not satellites of ULL.

But whatever, there will always be people like you who get upset at the people who get upset at the people who get upset at people who call their school by its proper name.

I don't get all the hate for ULL. You'd swear it was LSU who lost the game last night by all the anti-ULL threads today.

What is so upsetting is they have no legal right to brand themselves as UL it's time for the University System to step up and settle this.

If Calling themselves UL is such a big no no pretty sure someone would have told them they are not allowed to any more.

The Sun Belt did tell them they could not go by that name anymore over a year ago. They are to be referred to as UL Lafayette first and ULL second. Not Louisiana in any fashion.

You are completely wrong. They have the same right to brand themseles any way they see fit. No different than Louisiana Stae University branded themselves as LSU. Why do we give a frog frick what any school elects to call itself?

My kids ask me the same thing. I just tell them it means University of Lafayette and the shirts say Louisiana. Makes sense to us. University of Lafayette at Louisiana.

It would be funny if every state school that played them would have LOUISIANA across the front. ie LOUISIANA tech LOUISIANA monroe southeastern LOUISIANA Even the ones without Louisiana in their names just use it anyway with a big outline of the boot LOUISIANA southern LOUISIANA mcneese LOUISIANA tulane LOUISIANA uno LOUISIANA northwestern state LOUISIANA grambling You get the point ... It's just a suggestion to get rid of the UL ego ...

You forgot one...
