This is a player who came out of shape and didn’t take school seriously. He was mad on top of that because of lack of playing time. He could of said frick all this and left but he didn’t. He worked his arse off getting into shape and got his grades up. He played and caused havoc. He could of left for the nfl but he decided to stay for his senior year. If he keeps working his arse off on and off the field, I think he deserves the #18.

Did you see that other thread where he lifts Joe up like a baby

Hoping he shows up in shape on June 1.

More than likely will be Stevens. Shelvin might get the patch.

Myles Brennan deserves a mention for paying his dues and waiting his turn. I do think Shelvin is deserving; especially considering the turnaround he’s made. Great story !

Jacoby Stevens most likely will get it being the leader of the defense. He is another player who could have left after trying to find a position and lack of play time. I thought for sure he was going to the nfl but came back. I’m so happy to have both players starting for Bo Pelini.

These are personal attributes and speak highly of Tyler. Stevens was one of the vocal leaders of the championship team and one of the Barbershop guys. I suspect he the likely guy, but Hester recently said all of the previous players seem to have different favorites.

Last year when the defense was getting run on, who was on the side lines getting in everyone's face and trying to make a difference. Stevens, in case you forgot.
Listened to a behind the scenes podcast on the barbershop, which apparently has nothing to do with cutting hair. It is a discussion group of players and apparently Stevens got included last year. This group was apparently influential. It was new to me, but sounded like a group at the barbershop debating various topics. I wish I know more.

Still amazes me that people think that yelling is real leadership.

He earned it. IMO he was our best player on defense.

Well I already spoke with Tyler on FaceTime about 3 months ago and I asked him if he was going to get #18 and he replied No Man!! I am not a leader like that. I told him man come on you have busted your arse for 4 years over came a lot of obstacles and has been EATING double team blocks since he has stepped ok the field at LSU ! He replied I appreciate that but like I said I am not a leader. I did ask him for one favor. That if I got him a football would he get the team to sign it for me and he replied Fo Sho I hope 2020 season is as great as 2019 was GO TIGERS !!!

So you think the guy who is sitting on his arse with his head down is leadership? I will take the player with some passion. It also did not hurt that Stevens improved his play through out the year. lets see what the lsusports.net bio says:

Versatile defensive back that can play either in the post or near the line of scrimmage … LSU’s “quarterback” on the defensive side of the ball … Makes plays all over the field as a roaming safety … LSU’s most productive defender in 2019 with 85 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and three interceptions … Second team All-SEC selection from the SEC Coaches as a junior in 2019 … Three-time SEC Defensive Player of the Week this year against Mississippi State, Auburn and Arkansas … Set career-best with 4.0 tackles for loss, three of which were sacks, against Arkansas … Started all 14 games … Second on team in sacks and third in tackles for loss … Has knack for coming up with a big play … Also a vocal leader on the field and on the sidelines … Had three tackles and broke up a pass in win over Oklahoma … Led Tigers with seven tackles in SEC Championship Game vs. Georgia … Had season-high 10 tackles vs. Auburn and followed that with nine stops against Ole Miss … Interceptions came against Mississippi State (leaping, one-handed grab that made SportsCenter Top 10 list), Vanderbilt and Texas A&M … Had seven tackles and a pass breakup against Florida … Had sack and eight tackles in road win over Texas … Opened year with seven tackles against Georgia Southern … Has starts on both sides of the ball during his career … Began his career on offense as a wide receiver before finding a home on defense, where he has thrived for the past two years.

Absolutely not! I love Shelvin but Stevens is the only one who should get 18. I also love Orgeron, but he or someone completely screwed up the 18 tradition, just give it to one player per year and forget about a dumbass patch
