1. We aren't physical anymore

2. I think our players forgot how to play football from not being on the field enough

People on here thought these short practices were innovative

Wtf. Fire this fricking bum.

People hated Miles so much that ANYTHING different was wildly praised. All of that absurd enthusiasm led to Orgeron getting the job. It is like some cruel joke to those of us who were a bit more rational during the whole saga.

Exactly. I got absolutely roasted last year by pointing out that barely practicing would have an adverse affect

it is a slippery slope. remember gerry dinardo ran the frick outta his guys and many times we had no legs for football games. similar to how john Mckay ran the bucs in the NFL. more is not always better especially during the season. guys need rest, however we do not know WTF OI is doing but obviously it is not working. if this is hampering reps for O and D it obviously is backfiring. need a happy medium.

when you're installing new systems on both offense and defense you need more time on the field, not less. In my opinion this is the biggest reason for the poor performances.

As much as you and I had it out in Miles' last couple years, we sure are on the same page now.

Feels like I gained a friend.

It turned into whatever Miles was doing, the opposite was better.

How do we even know the practices were too long under Miles? For all we know they were regular length practices and Orgeron abbreviated that, so we're literally getting less practice time than every other team. Of course the results on the field are going to suffer.

This board is full of dumbasses... 2.5 hour practices don’t make a team more physical and having shorter practices doesn’t make you soft. We don’t have the personal in the trenches plan and simple. I didn’t want O to be the head coach but it’s not his fault our OL is full of offensive guards and can’t pass block. Also not his fault that we have 3 scholarship kickers and none of them can make a 35 yard field goal. Guess they should’ve practiced that another 5 hours this week...

We don't. We ASSumed because of subpar results in November.

But that might have been from the physical pounding we took playing Bama, or the team having trouble staying focused when we were playing for the Peach Bowl.

What it all boiled down to was anything done the opposite of Miles had done was celebrated. I'm guilty of that too but I was never for the hire of Ed O. If I had known O would have been named coach I would have rather stuck with Miles. Terrible hire bottom line and it shows.

It's the HC's fault that a missed FG was the difference between winning/losing at home to fricking Troy. Sorry bro.

We ditched Miles for essentially the same reasons we ditch Charles McClendon. It might have been the right thing to do then and now. However, like then, we're going to pay dearly for a bit.

My biggest concern is that O gets under so much stress that his alcoholic personality re-surfaces. At that point, the shite gets deeper.

Our physicality issues stem from our subpar S&C program more than anything else. We're way behind the curve there. Moffit has to go.

From someone who has been in the S&C business for a long time, I can tell you that lsu does essentially the same things that Bama, FSU, Ohio State and every other major program is doing.

Also S&C =/= physicality. There's plenty of players that are strong in the weight room yet play soft.

Physicality starts with the HC and then goes to each position coach. If the position coaches aren't preaching it then you won't get it.

So is it also not his fault that our players don't know where to line up still? Is it not his fault that our best receiver didn't get a target until the third quarter? Is it also not his fault that our o line does not know protection schemes?

this is correct. Shortening practices somewhat doesn't magically transform a tough team to a weak one, or vice versa.

Toughness, in large part, is a mindset and attitude and yes, much of that come from the coaching staff and what they demand.

But merely having longer practices doesn't make toughness happen.
