I don't think it matters at all dmitch. The NFL knows who he is and certainly would after the combine and all the personal workouts. They aren't gonna care whether or not he pits up 1200 yards next year. He is who he is--a damn good WR prospect with an NFL ready body. One more year won't change that. The only reason to come back--besides team and personal goals--would be to avoid what appears to be a top heavy WR class this year. I love him and obviously hope he stays, but would understand if he left.
And regardless of how good we think Mett will be, there is still some uncertanty there. And God forbid he gets hurt, we probably wouldn't throw the ball 10 times a game.

I would think even the casual observer can see the difference in mechanics between our present QB options and what we've seen of Mettenberger in the spring and Northwestern games.
There's several guys in front of RR this year. Even if he is the fifth WR taken, this will likely mean mid to late 2nd round.
There's the obvious risk of injury, but even with mediocre production next season, RR projects as the first or second receiver taken. As you know, this is a big difference in guaranteed money.
Another factor, IMO, is that in this year's draft, he may end up on a more favorable team in a better city. There's really no telling where he might end up, whereas after next season, if healthy, he would be in the first part of the first round, which might mean a team in disarray.

I'm not going to risk hurting myself translating.
I just wanted to add that he should declare for the draft if he's guaranteed to go in the first round.

I think he needs to get bigger. He is my favorite player so I'm not downing him. I wish him the best if he can make it, good. I just wish he would consider staying one more year and getting bigger and better.

Yeah I would say its better to come back, but not in Sam's case. He is another injury away from every team being scared to draft him. He has given his all to LSU football and I'm damn proud to call him a Tiger. To come back after
major knee surgery and be better than expected is a blessing. Go get your money BIG SAM. You deserve it

i understand that, just wondering if it could be true. i have heard on this board many times that a first time starter wont do good in the SEC. it was said many times the past year about the bama QB.
Eh, Mett is different - he's played a lot of football - Butler threw alot while he was there, for obvious reasons. Just that straight up cold-blooded read he made and scored against Ole Miss (and he did score, Miles told them not to review it ), with his legs and he's not even a runner. He will get 70 to 80 percent of the reps with the 1s in the spring and summer and we don't play anybody OOC next year, so there's no chance of a UNC or Oregon defense to come in and shatter his confidence early.
That also gives RR a chance to pad his stats early and build a little hype going into the off season. That's why the consensus is (WRs don't really get a premium nowadays, anyway, not like QBs, Corners or DEs) if he's not projected top 20 - buy the insurance policy and play the senior year. We're still going to run it next year, but with more passing and RR being the clear #1 receiver, it's almost a can't lose, barring a serious injury.
But, hey, I wish Reuben and your family all of the best - he has to do what he thinks is right.
