This thing with Valentine is getting to be beyond ridiculous - if he's not cleared by Auburn we should tell the sec office to GTFO and just play him

They wouldn't be on our team if we didn't burn their redshirts. Still think it's idiotic?

Biased a little? You don't know the facts, but you know it's ridiculous? What if they have solid evidence that his records are fabricated? Would that change your opinion?

Redshirts are becoming a thing of the past. Players are only going to stay for three seasons due to the new NFL collective bargaining agreement.

You can get three seasons out of someone or redshirt them and only get two.

Your choice.

I don't think last night will be the last time we see teuhema. That means it was a good decision to play him. I won't say we burned his redshirt because that would imply we wanted to redshirt him in the first place.

He looked outstanding. He needs to be in the rotation.

Yep, any player LSU is recruiting should be three and done. Redshirting is literally a waste of a season unless it's an extremely serious injury

My problem is if the NCAA cleared him, why does the SEC need to get involved? I've never heard of the conference stepping in to stop someone after the NCAA clears them.

If you play a single snap your standard redshirt is no longer available.

I don't think you even have to take a snap. As I recall, if they step on the field during the game (ie. come in but a TO is called before the snap) they lose the redshirt.

Dural was also very very skinny and would have been obliterated by any Sec team. His body was not ready for the abuse.

This. We've gotten to the point where we really can't afford to keep a guy more than 3 years. If he's not ready to go pro at that point, he's probably not good enough to hold his spot with the talent behind him. Plus, our recruiting works better when our guys are getting meaningful snaps earlier.

In a way, it helps with parity. Programs like Wisky develop their guys for a full 4-5 years, whereas programs like ours recruit more talent, but only get to keep them for 3.

So wait...now it's a good thing for LSU's teams to have lots of underclassman leave? Pretty sure everyone sings a different tune come draft time. Also, the section in bold just sounds a little stupid to me. If he can't hold his spot he'll get passed up, so what? Quality depth with experience is a good thing to have.

Tehuma had two sacks, so a lot of casual fans think he's great. Both sacks were blown assignments by the offense. You could take the DE off any high school freshman team, and he could make those two plays.

It's not good to have them leave. The guys that are going pro would give us national championships every year. I'd love to have Mett, OBJ, Landry, Ego, all those guys drafted back. It's not good that they leave, but if they're good enough to get drafted, then they won't stay. Our model now is that our guys are going to leave early, so we need to replace them every year. It's hard, and it evens the playing field for teams that are keeping their guys longer, but at least it helps us in recruiting top talent to replace them.

ETA: And if they don't go pro, then they either did it for personal reasons (i.e. wanting to win a NC) which hardly ever happens any more, or they're trying to improve their draft stock, which, on this team, is a situation where they are likely to run into stiff competition from below.

The d line creates absolutely no pressure. He created pressure. Play him for a few plays.
